Hey guys,

I wanted to get this out there. A local game group is going to be putting on this event. Here is a link to the website:

http://www.renegadeopen.com/

It's located about 45 miles from the Minneapolis Airport and about 20-30 minutes from Downtown.

Here are some of the Rules:

General Tournament Rules:

1.Games will be played using the Warhammer 40k 6th Edition rule set. All the current errata and FAQs available from Games Workshop will be in effect.

2.For an army codex to be tournament legal it must have been released a minimum of 30 days prior to the event (October 23rd). Any codex released less than 30 days prior to the event will not be allowed.

3.Tournament participants should be over the age of 16, unless ok’d by the Organizers

4.All models must clearly represent what they are supposed to be: WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get).

5.Your models do not have to be painted to play. However, your paint score will be included in the Overall score and for an army to receive a paint score it must have 3 colors and be based.

6.Each player needs to bring 3 40mm circular objective markers.

7.Players are expected to have a printed, legible army list to give to each of their opponents prior to the game and one for the judges at check in (Total of 8 lists are required)

8.Players are required to bring a copy of their Armies Codex as well as any additional White Dwarf rules supplements (ie Dakka Jets and Storm Talons).

9.Players are required to bring a copy of the Warhammer 40,000 6th Edition Rule book (Either the BRB or LRB are acceptable).

10.All players are required to have a printed copy of current FAQ’s/ Errata’s for both their army and the main Warhammer 40,000 rule book.

11.If a player does not have their Codex, Rulebook, or current FAQ’s/Errata’s they forfeit any rules disputes they are involved in.

12.Judges will be present in order to assist with any questionable rules arguments. All Judges rulings are final.

13.Terrain on the tables will be fixed. Players are responsible for clearly determining what the various terrain elements will be counted as for determining: Cover Save values (6+, 5+, 4+, 3+) as well as what type of terrain it is (Impassible, Area Terrain, Ruins, Fortifications, or Dangerous Terrain).

Army list Rules:

1.Each player has 1850 points to create an army list according to standard Warhammer 40,000 Force Organization restrictions. This includes Allied Detachments and Fortifications.

2.Allied detachments are allowed and must follow all rules for allied detachments found in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook (ie: Battle Brothers, Allies of Convenience, Desperate Allies)

3.Fortifications are allowed with the exception of the Fortress of Redemption and Skyshield landing pad as their footprints are too large. All Terrain will be fixed on tables and Fortifications must be able to be placed on the board without having to move terrain.

4.All Standard Codex’s are allowed. No Imperial Armor units, No Rules and Army Lists marked as “Trial” or “Optional”, and No units from Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse or Campaign books will be allowed.

Lots more information is available on the website. Check it out. I hope to see some Dakka gents there

Thanks for pimping the event Hulksmash! I recommend everyone check out the website as it has the full details (not to mention it is really pretty!).

The essence of the event is four w/l/d rounds on Saturday with the top sixteen (strength of schedule as the tiebreaker) continuing until there only remains one competitor on Sunday afternoon. Everyone else gets to play in an RTT Sunday with hobbyist scores factored in.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

I completely understand that I think a lot of our participants will be waiting tell after Adepticon/ Dark Star before they start looking this far into the future. Our goal of course being a first year GT is to get as many people to the event as possible so it helps with generating buzz for later years and there for we wanted to get a jump start on the promotions and announcements. Gives people enough time to hear about our event and make an informed decision to attend!

I hope we see you there and I hope you have a good time at Dark Star and Con of the North!

Recently I got the chance to hit an actual sound studio and record a radio/Podcast promo for our event. If you have the time give it a listen and let me know what you think https://www.dropbox.com/s/f2yk0ftj1cfeq7m/Renegade%20Open%2030%20sec%20Promo%20Spot.mp3?fb=1&fb_action_ids=10102875892290730&fb_action_types=dropboxdropbox%3Aupdate&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map={%2210102875892290730%22%3A338411692927571}&action_type_map={%2210102875892290730%22%3A%22dropboxdropbox%3Aupdate%22}&action_ref_map=[]

The site is very nice! I may be interested in coming down to throw some dice with you guys. I could bring a crew as well if I come. A few questions though.

How many players are you planning? 64 is a great starting point but if you think you will get more than great! Does there really need to be 4 rounds day 2? For people traveling leaving that late will be tough and could detract from out of towners towards the end of the year when most vacatiion is spent.

I am going to try and sweet talk the wife but with Nova and Adepticon....

To be fair it's actually 7 rounds for all but two players after looking at it. And they give out all the prizes after game 7 so that everyone but those two can bounce.

It's be great if you could make it Spags

Rounds are only 2 hrs and 10 minutes. Pretty light for nids if they end up against another horde army.

If I go I will probably just take my Taudar.

To answer your question and update people a little I called the hotel where we have a block of rooms reserved for people coming in from out of town (http://www.hielkriver.com ). They work with company called Lakes Express which shuttles people from the Minneapolis Airport to the hotel (http://www.lakesexpress.com ) They aren't free though so heads up, but they seem reasonably priced.

Few updates too we recently got some BIG sponsorship from Badger Airbrush / Minitaire Paint (they bought in at 2 of our gold sponsorship levels so a minimum of $1000 product in total! ). We also got sponsorship coming from The War Store as well ! Overall we will be defiantly providing more than what was originally outlined on our website.

We are also looking at adding some more events to the weekend and just need to swing by the event hall and map out the floor space for tables and all to make it happen. If your not on our facebook page I suggest it as we update it with accouterments as we hear back from sponsors and finalize plans http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Renegade-Open-GT/436841713038426

Thanks so far for all the feedback and positive responses to our event the group of us really are working hard to make this a fun time for everyone.

We are planning for 100 players (as in we have 100 spots for people) within our local scene we could fairly easily make a 64 person event. There is another tournament in the area (this weekend in fact) that has 70 spots and they have a wait-list already for their event.

As for the 4 rounds Sunday Hulksmash is right the only people who play 4 rounds will be the champion and runner up Otherwise everyone else will play 3 games and then we will do awards and they can head home after.

If you can make it it would be awesome! If not then there will always be next year :-D
