Ok today i picked up a box of old oop chaos warhounds to proxy as flesh hounds since they looked menacing enough what suprised me when i opened it s that there are 10 40mm round bases along with the standard 25mm X 50mm squar base. would it be wrong to mount them on the rounds and still use them for flesh hounds for 40k daemons.
here are pics, im guessing they used to be for 40k as they have them fighting ig on the back. i also have a feeling that more beast kits will be on 40mm in later realeases.
I KNOW THIS IS THE PM SECTION, IM JUST UNSURE WHERE I SHOULD ASK THIS, IF THIS THREAD NEEDS TO BE MOVED THE MODS GO AHEAD AND MOVE IT TO WHERE IT BELONGS.

Well its definitely an older kit from the art style and the fact their metal. Its not uncommon for chaos kits to come with both styles of bases as a lot of their models can be used for either system, what you have their are bog standard OOP Metal warhounds of chaos, they'll make decent enough stand ins for flesh hounds if you explain to your opponent before hand BUUUUUT with a little conversion work they would look a lot more like flesh hounds.
Only problem I see is the best way i know to make them look more like fleshounds is to head swap them with lizardmen cold one cavalry, being that these are metal that might be a little more complex than when i did it to my plastic war hounds.

You should mount them on rounded corner bike bases.

Actually, Flesh hounds use the same base, not the round bike bases.

They look more like the Flesh Hounds I know and love than these new ones. These guys look like the Flesh Hounds of 3rd edition, most of the back parts are exactly the same. I used loads to beef up my old Flesh Hound pack back in the day,
Paint 'em red and tell everyone they're Flesh Hounds. If anyone argues, call seniority. These are classic models and perfect Flesh Hounds.

Unless the 40k chaos codex has 'multiple' types of hounds... it really doesn't matter what they look like. I know in fantasy there were multiple types so it mattered a little.
I think they are perfect the way they are. The closest rules for them are 'chaos' and 'hounds' and there is nothing to confuse them with. A perfect example of 'counts as'.

Yup, they're obviously hounds, and pretty sure they're the only type of hound in the codex, so there's no possible confusion. They may be a little smaller than the standard flesh hounds, but only by a few mm - if you're really worried, you could make them slightly taller by bulking up the bases a little,
Definitely put them on the 40mm round bases for 40K use.

It's not that, afaik the flesh hound kit only comes with squares.
