Let's define your primary army as the army of which you own the most models.

The problem is I have about 3000 pts of Nids nd 3000 pts of Eldar. Since you said most models, I'm kind of forced to go with Nids (though I've been playing Eldar more recently, as a number of my Nid models got damaged and I've yet to find time to repair them).

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Really? It's the newest codex. Newest codex always has a strong *cough* following. (Especially from all the Chaos players offloading the extra Dark Vengence models they had).

I'm more surprised that a Sisters of Battle player showed up before Chaos Daemons. I've never seen anyone play SoB, and personally, after how they treated the Sister's of Battle with only a WD update and then not selling the update or the codex it updates for over a year now, I would have probably have sold my models, quit this game and forever cursed GW's name while I picked up a different hobby.

Ya, I've read it and have often wanted an Ally detachment for some more thematic games against chaos and some of the models (Pentient Engine) have always appealed to me as a collector and a Son of the Emperor (I loved St. Celestine's appearance in the Czevak novel and almost bought an ally detachment when I read it, but then stopped when I saw I couldn't buy the codex) but its mostly that the circumstances around it completely embody GW's mentality of "Only those who care the most and are willing to pay up-front and then again later get the full experience" that offends me and had me sell my Necron army when they invalidated my Pariah army and made it less than worthless. I completely understand their marketing strategy and it is no surprise they post record sales the year they double their prices on everything they make awesome and more useful.

But there is a reason I haven't bought anything new in four months and would never buy a SoB army, the buying experience just isn't fun or exciting anymore and I like feeling valued as a customer. I hated having to put GK as my main list because I started first and foremost as a Nid player and resolved to remain such, but I'm sure the Harpy will be $70 and I'm not buying another Hive Tyrant at those prices (I suppose I should be grateful it is no longer fine cast). But I can see myself within the next year selling everything down to a single painted army starting with the ones that will require Forge World Purchases or serious conversions to complete. I admire your resilience in sticking to your army, I think I am just losing my joy for this hobby the larger the price tag I see attached to it.

after hearing that im a bit depressed

but personally i've been playing crons for a good couple years and enjoyed every second of it (even when i would phase out it was fun because it made me have to rethink how to fight certain lists) i think the key to withstanding the torrent of GW prices is to get models from ebay or some other place where you can get people's old stuff cheaper and carry on their models legacy or just get an army that you really love and can get into with their lore and storyline and how they look! Now granted if you dont like a model or 2 you can always just convert it which is a main part of the hobby! and if you really want conversion mania, play orks for a year then check back and see how many things you have converted from other GW kits and really any old WW2 models that you can find to play around with

Lol,
I love how your solution to combating the feeling overwhelmed by the cost of this hobby is to buy more models. You'd be great at a GW.

Seriously though, the only way to withstand the torrent of prices is to be content with small collections or only one army. I'm not someone who is capable of being content in general, so this hobby probably just isn't for me and it might be time to shelve it.

But back on topic, seriously? Still no primarily Chaos Daemon players? I always assumed that there would be more Chaos Deamon players as it is the only army you can use for both systems. Now I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I don't encounter more of them.

even though they are compatible for both they arent exactly that first one you see and just have to play because you love the daemons so much

and as to your previous comment i meant you should get more into the hobby and start your converting and finding great looking aletrnatives to the models you are trying to find or find them second hand to deny the upped prices and get a battleforce for $70 or something fun like that

Most models is a bit misleading. I have a GK paladin army and a Tau army. Although i have far more Tau models, i probably have more points in GK and would call that my Primary force.

im surprised theirs as many tau mains their are, seeing as they dont have an overly competive codex, and strugle to compete against a fairly competive army from most others.

Most people collect more of their favorite army then their competitive army would make sence right? I only had 1500 of DE for competitive play when I was at 3000 of my old 3rd ed necrons
