Hi
I have fair size collection of ww2 late war western front in 1/72 and 1/76. I am thinking of getting the rules (version3) and using the toys I have. I'm sure someone out there has done this. What changes to basing, ground scale, or other things work well. I have a large playing surface (10x6) to game on.
Cheers

To be honest I wouldn’t change a thing. Keep the bases sizes and ranges the same but only have 3 figures to a base as opposed to 4-5. The tanks are obviously going to be larger but not so much as to break the rules.

If you scale the game up you'd have to have a larger table too. I think it could be a major imbalance if a tank would be able to cross 2/3rd of a table with a single move. You shorten the distances between the objectives and everything else. So on a table that is much bigger than the standard FoW table you should be fine.
Why dont you just try bolt action? I know its 28mm but it would be much easier to scale to 1:72 (which is 23-24mm if im not mistaken) I watched some people play it at my flgs and i liked it.

You don't think the tank foot print will be too much? M4 Sherman looks big, and if you get to big German cats......that is a large base.
Table size don't think will be a problem, as I said I have 10'x6' table to play with.

It will be problematic for many reasons, the ranges of Weapons will seem ridiculous. Cover, objective distances, deployment distances.
It's workable, but with 20mm it will be very crowded especially with a Russian List.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest! |

What size table do you use for 15mm toys?

For a 1500 point game, I'd say 4x6 minimum. I would prefer 4x8. Anything less is going to be too crowded and you'll start having the "tank parking lot" effect if you use a lot of armor.

Basically this, though I would suggest Battle Group Kursk (and the forth coming Overlord supplement) or Kampfe Grupe Normandy if you can still get a copy.

Thanks for replies, I want to try FoW, rules look like a simple game (the beer and pretzel type).....they should make for a good excuse to play with toys..........lol.
I was hoping to find someone who has tried to make the rules work for 20mm.
I idea (a guess at this point) is to multiply all distances by 1.5 or 1.25, rounding up to nearest half or full inch (not sure yet). Also not sure if I want to increase size of the templates or just leave them as they are.
Cheers

I don't want to be rude, but why would anybody suggest another set of rules. At this point I am interested in making FoW work with 1/72 miniatures. I am sure all those rules are very fine sets, they give a good game and so on, but I did not asked for suggestions what rules to use.

Because mounting them on the proper Base may give you problems when you are putting the correct size per squad on them.
