As the title suggests, im looking for some cheap models to use as chaos trolls. GW is preferred but am more than willing to check out third party minis.
Im looking for cheaper than the usual river troll conversions. Also a cool one for throgg would be nice as the price on GWs one is outrageous

Probably, they're on 40mm bases so just replace them with the square ones instead of the smooth ones and you'll be good.

awesome id only need two boxes of them anyway, and Skaldi Bonehammer could work as throgg

Keep in mind though, PP is kind of GW prices if you buy in bulk, otherwise it's much cheaper because you need less for your games and you get more per box usually. In the future they may become GW prices though, we just don't know.

eh 20 trolls for just less than £50 is a lot better than 6 for just under £60 at GW Prices. And the HQ's about quarter of the price

What about the Wendigo range from Wargods of Aegyptus?

Also, there are lots of troll sized plastic prepainted minis going cheap on ebay from the rackham line, some of those large werewolf minis might well suit.

Yeah, those might be better, since they've got horns and spiky feet and no armour, but you'd need to get rid of that fur. Plus you'd only be getting 12 for 80 dollars.

while those would make awesome yetis, the trollbloods are just so much cheaper for trolls

Well, let me just warn you on this, the only trollblood I own is Gerlak Slaughterborn and there is no way he'd pass for a GW troll, he's far too small. More like a Black Orc.

If they're too small in height, then you could say they've become mutated by chaos so much they've become shorter. And Gerlak is a Warmachine mini, so that's probably why he's smaller.

...You know Warmachine and Hordes are the same game, right? IK Trollbloods aren't all that big. The Fennblades are roughly terminator sized:

I'd say very too small... around half the size of a GW troll.

No, I didn't. I just knew they were both by PP. Now I know why people say Warmahordes.

If those fennblades are too small, then bulk them up with GS or look on ebay for cheap GW ones. You might have to do some paint stripping, but you'll still have your models.

Or use correct sized models like minotaurs, ogres or trolls from other ranges?

Like Reaper or Malifaux? Could work, but they're mostly 1 miniature sets. Black Scorpion produces quite a lot of minis, but they're mostly pirates/orcs. There are a couple of trolls, though, but they might be too small as well.

Well, I've made some great looking grotesques for my dark eldar using talos parts and some prepainted plastics from the now defunct Reaper.

The Wolfen faction was large mini centric and there were some large minis in some of the other factions.

Their large plastic prepainted don't look amazing as is, but with some kitbashing and a decent paint job, you could work wonders.
