Gee probably, though I can't remember for sure. It's very violent from the outset, so bear that in mind. They dont shirk on the viscera.

First episode was pretty bloody. I don't recall any torture specifically, but I believe he kills something like 6 men in the arena in one go, in a particularly vicious fashion.

Recently alot of my friends have been talking about the Spartacus TV show, so I thought I'd watch the first episode, so I did some reading about it online and it said that in the first season there are scenes of torture. So I was wondering are any of these scenes in the first episode?

To be honest, I found that it was basically a serie-lenght snuff movie... Not worth watching in my opinion.

Yeah Spartacus is pretty brutal as a series. Lots of blood and gore, lots of nudity, and various activities. In the nude.

It's good a good story, fun characters, and is over all well done but can definitely see how it can all be ruined for some people.

It's a show about gladiatorial combat and the intrigues of the ones who run it and manage the "players".

It's a good show if you don't mind the violence. Also you get to hear all sorts of ways to use words that describe male genitalia. I mean really inventive ways.

It is a tad bit over the top blood and sex, even compared to HBO. The amount of blood makes it look a bit like a comic book IMO which kind of screws up the feel.

It is a rather enjoyable series filled with political twists and intrigue.

2 of my biggest gripes other than the cartoon-ish blood is how they portray Gaius Julius and they killed off my favorite character, Ashur. He is a cunning prick and a scumbag in the show. Not that I like that personality in real life, but in a show it makes it worth watching.

At any rate, the series has got me and some buddies to pool out some old hex and counter war games to play. Playing Avalon Hill's CAESAR'S LEGIONS. It's fun to hear all the bad mouthing of the Roman Republic. All enemy's of Rome will feel the Caligae of oppression on their throats.
