I'll be at the last two of those conventions, I'm already looking forward to both of them.

Just a quick note, I don't think the Warstore Weekend is actually going to be in Somerset this year, I think it's moving 30 ish minutes farther north.

Don't knock bringing badgers to a major convention unless you've tried it.

Technically I've brought Badgers to every convention since 2010

Then you should know what excellant traveling companions badgers make.

Do you guys know what hotel your staying at for Gencon yet?

'Baymont Inn & Suites' about 15 miles away, this may change when exhibitor housing opens up in a few months if there is a room that meets my cheap-ass desires.

How big of a pain is it driving and parking to the convention every day?

The pain is greatly offset by saving $150+ a night.

The real issue is making sure to leave early enough on Friday/Saturday morning to get parking somewhat close to the show (generally in the the garage that connects to the convention center).

We drove from the Windham to GenCon every day, and the only issue that it provided was that my buddy couldn't go back to the hotel room while I was working...

It's something to think about... Any savings would be offset by gas, car rental and parking...

We're renting a van, in theory if you stay at the same hotel as us you can commute with us.

Last year I wasn't with OTL, so it was all on me and my buddy. It took us about 3/4 a tank of gas, and the last quarter was spent driving two and from (budgeted), and we planned for 100 dollars in parking. So 80 bucks in gas, 100 for parking, and 58 bucks a night for the hotel... was like 450 total for everything...

Two years ago we stayed at the Omni for 190 a night, and the Omni is about as conveniant to the convention as it gets. There comes a point where the additional savings isn't worth the hassel I just need to decide where that is. Hopefully I'll talk with Len about it Friday and if I hear back from a friend about passes and if we can piggy back on his reservations then I'll make a descision. One way or the other I'll be there. I'm booking my flight this weekend.

I will have to skip GenCon once again this year, but I might be able to get to The Warstore Weekend. I need to start planning now. I might even be able to get into some Brushfire action this time.

Just saw this from the Warstore about the Warstore Weekend.

The Warstore wrote:
Unfortunately we have had to make a change in both the date and the venue for the upcoming TheWarStore Weekend 2013. Once we came to an agreement with the Hotel our salesperson was rather suddenly ‘let go’, without a word of warning to us. When we heard nothing from the salesperson for a few weeks we contacted the hotel and found out that in the interim they had sold our time and space to the Carraciola-Gildenstern wedding.

After we expressed some consternation the new salesperson did find us another space close by, and it is also a fine venue. We are moving to the Hilton, New Brunswick – 9 miles southeast of our original location and actually closer to I-95. This hotel features a great inside space, the same room pricing, similar onsite eating venues, and a multitude of offsite eating and drinking establishments within a 2 mile radius. We don’t forsee any real travel disruptions and we are keeping the benefits we gained over the 2012 location (better/more offsite restaurants, everything under one roof). However, in order to secure the new site we did have to change the date, to November 1st to November 3rd 2013. We are very sorry we had to make this change, and we hope this does not cause anyone any serious inconvenience. If you have already made travel arrangements and this date change will cause a problem please let us know as soon as possible and we will do what we can to help.

So, for 2013 TheWarStore Weekend 2013 has officially moved to the Hilton, East Brunswick, from Nov 1 through Nov 3. We hope to see you all there!

Much nicer hotel then last year. Looks like the rooms are going to be $119 a night but if you book through the Hilton, East Brunswick's website right now you can get a room with a King bed for $99 and a room with two Queen Beds for $109 a night...

If for whatever reason you can't book now I reserved 3 rooms at those prices although the room with the King Bed is mine.

Thanks Caty, I'll update the OP in a little bit when I get back from lunch. I have to check if I've booked a room yet for TWSW, I don't think I did as I'm fairly sure the cheap ass place we stayed at last year flooded.

I thought you guys had stayed onsite... If you didn't you've did yourself a favor.

Nah, we're cheap as hell when it comes to hotel rooms. Last year we stayed at a Knights Inn for $60/night.

Idk if I could make it out there... I mean it is a 7 and a half hour drive from my house... Far closer than TempleCon and during a time where the weather is usually okay...

Another event we're considering attending is 'Feast of Blades', out in Denver.

I was thinking about bringing Brushfire to two of my local cons, Dreamation and Dexcon. Unfortunatly I missed the window for Dreamation although I will probably try for Dexcon in July.
