Subject: Do grey knight paladin's get...

Hi all.
So recently, I played against grey knights, vs someone I just met at a gaming club I visit. The game is going fine, up untill combat, where he tells me grey knight paladin's, get a 2+ save (Fair enough), 2 wounds, (Odd, but I know this is true) and they get to reroll 1's to save. Now, forgive me, but isn't that just a 1+ save, 5/6 of the times?
I have never heard of this, and it sounded...well...just plain wrong. I can't imagine that's how it works, because that would give you around a 1/36 chance every time you wound them, for the wound to actually go through, with 10 wounds on the squad. Who on earth could put 360 wounds on these guy's in close combat?
I was allready struggling hard, with the fact that I was playing daemons vs grey knights. But this one thing, made me verifiably lose the game, because despite getting my entire army to try and kill the paladins (I just basically gave up, and wanted to see if I could do anything at all to them), I couldn't put a single wound on them
So...can anyone help me find this rule, or thing, that let's grey knight paladins, have a 2+ save, that reroll's 1's to save? :S

They can't get this mystical rerollable save of which you speak, but if he included a Grey Knight Grand Master and applied the Hammer of Righteousness Grand Strategy to the unit then they could reroll wound rolls of 1 for the whole game. Possibly that was where they misinterpreted/bent the rules.

He included draigo, who I beleive is a grand master. Fair enough, thank you, I might stand a chance in a rematch with this knowledge

You got cheated by the sounds of it, terminator are tough but not that tough.
To beat him take plasmaguns and lascannons as they can't take SS so str 9 shots will ignore his save and instant death will make the two wounds a none issue.
Also vindicators are your friend.

Having a 2+ save and re-rolling 1s is effectivly a 35/36 chance of saving.
That's a level of effectiveness that is reserved for very few units in this game. And paladins are not one of them.

Well, I play daemons, so none of that fancy tank stuff. I do use flamers and screamers, but quite rightly he shot them down as quick as he could.
But I could well have managed, if he had not been rerolling all his saves of 1. Without that, I think I stick a fair chance

Sounds like he applied his army-wide Prefered Enemy: Daemons to his armour saves as well. (which is cheating - he only gets PE on his shooting + assault to-hit & to-wound rolls of 1)
I honestly wouldn't go out and buy/bring a Flamer + Screamer spam. It's a complete jerk move that smacks of being TFG, plus the army is insanely boring to play with and against at that point.
Not to mention, it's only going to be OTT for another 3 weeks or so until the new Daemons codex is eventually released!
And for the same reasons, unless you already have all the models for it, I also wouldn't bother going out and building up an Eppie + Plaguemarine list either since his Tally of Pestilance is likely to see some changes. (my bet is it will no longer work on allies)
As for combating GK's. When you're a Daemon player, you're always going to have a rediculous uphill climb to compete against them. Their book is simply designed to be an OTT perfect hard-counter to ours.
Bringing in some IG allies or CSM Cultists + Helldrake can help big time though. Access to plenty of cheap bodies plus a solid flyer and in the case of IG, lots of heavy weapons + Orders! With CSM's, it's fun to add in a Mastery Lv3 Sorcerer hiden inside a unit since he can provide some psychic buffs/hexes depending on which psychic lores you go for.

So, I'm happy. Not only did I table the grey knight player, I did it with only one casualty (A demon prince got challenged by draigo ) Everyone told me nurgling's were useless. I held up his big paladin squad with a 9 base nurgling squad all the way through turns 3-6. And mopped up everything else with my great unclean one, and 2 more princes I've ran this army with 3 squads of 9 nurgling bases, since I started, and they have never failed to impress me yet

What a pitiable attitude.
It's just a game. Who cares what someone brings?

I play daemons. But I know fine well, that spamming flamers/screamers, just isn't fun. Winning is only fun, if you feel like you earned it, in my opinion. Erasing your opponent's army in a turn or two, no matter the list, just isn't fun.
Even at a tournament, I would rather come last and have fun, than come first for being utterly cheap

But that's not a reroll on your armour save, that's just an extra 5+.

There are only 2 instances of a 2+ Save than can be re-rolled in 40k that I know of.
1) Eldar Farseer casting fortune + Phoenix Lord (think some of them have 2+ saves)
2) Space Wolves Wolf Guard Terminator attached to the grey hunter unit with a Wolf Standard (He gets a 2+ save with re-rolled 1's for a single round of assault)
Can anyone else think of any other re-rolled 2+ saves in 40k?

Yes, any Psyker with Precognition and Terminator/Artificer armor. Such as a BA Libby in Terminator armor, Inquisitor Coateaz, a few other Psykers that get Divination, roll the Precog power, and have a 2+ save.

Fateweaver next to someone with "Collar of Khorne". This lets skulltaker tank every force weapon with a 35/36 save.
There is a psychic power that lets you reroll armor saves in the diviniation tree. Combined with terminator armor, you get that 35/36 save.
There is a chaos boon power that lets you reroll saves. Combined with terminator armor yet again.... A necron lord with sepiternal weave and a Cryptek with a Chronometron can let you reroll your 2+ save as well.
