I know this goes around and around from time to time, and I was inspired by Smurfwedges Primarch Actor Gallery.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-29334-29448_Primarch%20Actors.html

So do you have an suggestions for actors to play certain 30k Characters, including other well known's like Malcador, Valdor, Qruze, Loken etc. I find it helps to give a mental image to your potential characters and conversions.

Garviel Loken (Russel Crowe)?

Fabius Bile (Bill Bob Thornton with long hair) ?

Malcador the Sigilite (Jeremy Irons) ?

Corax/ Fulgrim / Curze imagine black hair (Jason Isaacs)?

Iacton Qruze ( the half-heard / Sam Elliot)

Some others of note :-

Chance Kelly (aka Generation Kill - GODFATHER)

David Harewood (from HOMELAND) maybe VULKAN?

We should be able to piece together a super Cast. I might even Edit this post to have IMDB pictures instead. I will make this into a Dakka Article once we get alot of feedback Any suggestions?

I'd probably cast unimportant and obscure actors so as not to waste the time and ruin the reputation of the good ones.

Sarcasm aside, I enjoy the casting of fabius bile looks-wise, but acting-wise i'm not so sure. Also, Alan Rickman must play a villain.

Sean Bean would have to play the Emperor... though that might be giving the ending away.

I heartily agree!

For Lorgar, Iain Glen would be my choice.
He's got a real nack for playing bad/evil ards and being rather serious about it. Plus, when called upon, he can go into complete epic-bad@$$ mode and can bring in 'cliche' with skill & class!

Oh, and after his first run-in with heavy prosthetics, I'm sure "it'll get easier" for him to go all Daemon Primarch!

I think there's another area to look at...wrestlers.

I know what you're thinking...

" "

Purely from a physicality point of view I think they shouldn't be overlooked...

Batista would surely have a spot...just check out his war face

Although I admit with wrestling it's hard to look past the 'roids and y-fronts to see a worthy acting resource, yet they aren't without confidence or bravado, which is sometimes all an actor needs.

It's not as if the Heresy novels are Shakespeare or Chekhov character studies anyway...let's be honest.

I am not having Vince McMahon as the Emperor!!

Wrestlers from a Physicality point of view yes, from a character point of view no.

The Rock only became a decent actor after he stopped trying to be super serious and started actually having fun with his roles. He's got talent and a stage persona, but I don't know if he'd fit with GW's obsession with Grimdark. Maybe during their earlier days where they were more open about their satire and didn't actually believe have the crap they were spewing.

To this I largely agree...I'm just saying that given the chance some may surprise with actual acting talent is all, it's just that they're required to bring the same amount of acting cheese as the muscle they carry on their frames due the nature of the WWE.

Of course most wrestlers who do make films gravitate towards action movies, often B grade ones at that, which doesn't help my argument - but it's not like they can't take direction, lack screen presence or are void of the big personalities/confidence that most of the Primarch's/Astartes character's possess.

I guess what I'm saying is just assume they can act and there'd be a few roles for some IMHO (but by no means all). At the very least you'd have all the non-descript/minor Astartes covered.

I'm not a huge wrestling fan or anything, I catch the odd bit now and then, but if I were casting for the Primarch's I'd audition them without hesitation is all. Physicality is a major part of any role, although technology and film technique could mitigate this to a large degree now...

No but this is a bit a Whimsy, entertaining thought but lets be honest it's never even going to have B Movie either!

+1 to this just for Liam Neeson as the Emperor.

He played Zeus pretty well in Clash of the Titans, having that god factor and gusto that would be perfect in the Emperor.

This thread is the best idea and waste of time ever!

I don't know a lot of the actors on the list but this:

Roboute Guilliman - James Caviezel - Michael Fassebender

and this:

Horus - Mark Strong

make me want to trust the OP.

I think that Fassebender might be a touch on the young side for Guilliman. I think his tactical genius might look better on a slightly older face. Not sure.

And the moment I read Mark Strong as Horus...yep. That''s our guy. The threat of power behind such a likable face as in Tinker Tailor, could really work.

Can I humbly suggest Tom Hardy as Garviel Loken? He has certain innocence in his strength which would suit Loken as his loses faith in his fellow Sons.

I think the Emperor should never be shown. He's somehow holier and more esoteric that way, but if he needs to be cast, then Liam Neeson all the way.
