One Canoptek Scarab in a Swarm

Fancy way of saying help me choose another army.

I have a little over 7.5k points worth of Necrons. I started warhammer 40k in the summer of 2012. I still love my Necrons but i need a little diversity. A friend i know is selling two large armies for the same price. large enough to not need additions to play virtually any list. The two armies are Tyranids and Dark Eldar. I simply cannot decide which one i want. Dark eldar have the potental to be both shooty and assaulty while being highly mobile, whereas the tyranids are just cool with all the gaunt spawning and monsterous creature smashage.

Can anyone offer any insight as to which would provide a fresher experience compaired to Necrons. I usually run my Necrons as a marching blob of undying doom! with either scarab farming on a minor scale, or vehicle support. my gaming group plays games at 2.5k-3k point value so you can make lists to do anything. Thank you for your assistance in advance.

Probably Dark Eldar would be more contrasting to Necrons, because DE are fast and are good hit and run units. Necrons are really slow comparatively. Tyranids might be pretty different too because they have enormous swarms that overrun almost anything.

Ask him if you can play a few games with each army and pick the one you feel is the best for you.

Backing this up with all my might! The Dark Eldar will be a refreshing step from the 'safety' of the tough Necrons. The relative frailty of DE vehicles and troops will force you to change your tactics and mix things up!
