Dakka was down for maintenance (Sunday) and since it's variable in times to open threads and navigate, sometimes just timing out.

I use google chrome.

Our backup server is at death's door, so I have to clone the entire 300GB gallery from the US to Germany. It is taking quite some time and bandwidth so that might be causing a small slowdown.

Timeouts/etc are often fixed by logging out, clearing your cookies and then restarting your browser and logging in again. If you were signed in when I restarted the server, it can make some odd things happen to your profile until you do a full logout/login again.

What about cloning it locally, and then Fedexing the hard drives to germany?

The slow way is free, and only 1 day more time. Cloning the drives would mean up to 4 hours of downtime as well, whereas this is just a little bit slower (cant say I've noticed any slowdown myself though).

I'm mostly having slow downs when trying to access the 'Viewed Threads' page, and trying to goto unread posts from that page.

Have you tried logging out / logging in again as well? I'm seeing very negligible difference between normal usage and current usage that should not be causing any noticeable slowdowns. Backup is about 70% complete now, so only another day or two (and much better than having no backup!)
