I want to take an Ordo Xenos Inq. with 2 Need Pistols to my next tournament. The rule as stated by the store is wusiwug. What is the official ruling on a model with non existing gear? Can I use 2 Las pistols with a needle drilled into the barrel? I have boarding lasers which look cool -- can I use those?
Oh also does a Mystic count as a psyker for a Culex (it says they are minor psykers but only in fluff)?

Check with the TO, is my best advice. Generally if a part doesnt exist you are ok with conversions, you just need to make sure it is unmistakeble for anything else in your army.

Yeah so w/ Divination the would give him and unit re-roll misses and wounds. If he manages to get in range with whatever squad I stick him in that would be 1/36 to miss on those 2 shots and 1/36 not to wound --- unless of course they have cover. I think I'll give him Pscho and Rad grenades too.
Anyone had luck with Plasma Siphon?
Edit added: where is that bit from anyhow? True i could just model a holstered gun. that just doesn't look as cool. Now Boarding lasers:

I play a lot against a Tau, and since we're not clear which of his weapons it affects I avoid it, just to avoid that discussion.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.

Since 2nd edition, when Eldar Avatars were considered Daemons based solely on their fluff, and their weapon immunity likewise was based on weapon fluff as to what constituted a heat or flame-based weapon.
And various others over the years, like the Doom counting as a Zoanthrope for Warp Field, and suchlike.

To make a needle pistol start with a laspistol and literally put a 2mm or so section of needle at the barrel.
As to taking a Plasma syphon, it is hit or miss. Great against Tau and Dark Angles, but still at a short range 12" I believe.
When I kit a OX Inq for combat I take Level 1 Psyker (Hammerhand), with rad/psycho grenades in a henchman squad of 4-6 Crusaders and 4 DCAs. For shooty I go with Level 1 psyker (Prescience) and a squad of Purgation w/ 4 psycannons. Both work well for what they do although the shooty Inq works better as OM with Term armor and Psycannon with Prescience.

So, on the plasma syphon...
I put to you:
Burst Cannon
... Utilising the plasma induction technology found in the pulse rifle and other systems...
So, we can tell that the Pulse Rifle uses plasma...
However...
Kroot rifle
... the Tau have adapted the weapon to fire a charged pulse round...
So, the Kroot rifle fires a pulse round, and pulse rifles are plasma.
Does that mean the kroot rifle is affected?
And am I alone in not liking to use fluff for setting rules?

For Tau Plasma Syphon isn't such a bid deal. IIRC its 12" range and Fire Warriors can double tap from 15. Ordo Xenos isn't in TDA so cant deep strike next to them and any good tau player will keep his fire warriors out of 12 in change with the ability to move and shoot to full effectiveness. Its still not great but wont make that much difference the majority of the time.
If it also effects Kroot then they are slightly more boned...

I would say yes, considering only those bits. I think it matters is the Tau OFTEN modify Kroot rifles, or ALWAYS do.
Also, burst cannons.

Iv thought about bringing a very cheap inquisitor to roll with my Paladins for a long time, The only problem with GK armies is justifying 35 pts in an army that is already stretched to breaking point with expensive units and low model counts. Does anyone know if Plasma Siphon works if the inquisitor is embarked in a transport? Or is that just wishful thinking? (not that that many plasma weapons can crack a Storm Raven/Land Raider but might provide some protection for Rhinos/Razors)

It does. There is no Line Of Sight requirement, so that 12" bubble will extend from the hull of the vehicle as normal.
