I have been playing guards now for six years and im looking for somthing new

I have looked around and i decided on sisters of battle but i have run in to a bit of a problem its if i chould use the old codex third ed or the wite dwarf one....

The older codex speaks to me from the fluff i love the inquisitors and all the costomisation but, it misses alot of stuff no missile lunchers or anything to counter air

The new codex is more ballenced the rhino don cost 50 and so but i lose alot of costmication and the inquisitors but i still dont gain any anti air...

To compensate for the sisters having no anti air and the only thing to use against it is the exorsist but again one D6 is not that reliebel when i only hitt on sixes so adding in some guards for some anti air

A friend said to use the GK to ad in the inquisitrors i want but then i cant have the guards an i really dont like the GK in general but im open to sugestions!

Any help and pointers are welcome

First off, this isn't an appropriate thread for YMDC. Secondly, we need to know whether you are planning on playing casually or competitively. The use of Codex: Witch Hunters is really only allowed with opponent's permission (so casually).

If you are looking to play in a competitive setting or with folks who like to only use current rules, then you should be using the WD Codex.

Retributors in a bastion make for okay anti-air and also give you an interceptor weapon.

There's a whole SOB thread over in the Tactics sub-forum if you are looking for more ideas.

I already reported it, so the mods will probably move it off to 40k General.

I'd suggest an Aegis Defense Line. its only 100 point to take it with a quad gun that can handle your typical one or two fliers. You'll only have an issue if your playing against someone that has 3 or more fliers on the board, but they are TFG and you probably don't want to play them anyway.

Wow. This post is so full of wrong, it hurts.

First off, the Aegis is a good choice if you aren't running Rets, as it provides cover to your units and an interceptor gun. If you are taking rets, the Bastion is just flat-out better.

Secondly, having 3 or more fliers does not automatically make you TFG. This is just plain silly.

You do realize that the fluff in the With Hunters codex would have no bearing on the White Dwarf expansion, right?

I would recommend tracking down the White Dwarfs, as those rules were written with 5th edition in mind. And, yes, I'd look into fortifications of some sort.

Some conspiracy minded folks (like myself) think that it was, in fact, written with 6th edition in mind. At least to prepare the way.

What i mean is that the fluff for the witch hunters is basicly saying that the sisters play their role in battle in the wars of faith only and for onther things they are merly called in by the hereticus inquisitors and for this to work fluff wise you would need an inquisitor on the feild but rule wise it never made any diference but me and my friends play alot fluff wise...

I will take a look at the defence stuff in the rule book to see if there is somthing that chatches my imagination (i think i will take the bastion or angis)

Do what I do. Primaris Psyker from C:IG is a Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor. Or Company Commander, or Lord Commissar.

Counts-As is a great thing sometimes.

Yeah, the CCS makes a great henchman unit because of the variety of guys you can put in there.

Bodyguards, Master of the Fleet, Astropath, etc.

edit: Straken makes a great Power Armor Inquisitor as well.
