Hey all, i just signed up to dakka even though ive been a huge fan of w40k and been reading the forums on dakka for quite awhile. Anyway i was thinking earlier about BL doing a new series, the great crusade series. I was thinking about what all they could include, the emp gene experiments, scattering of primarchs, the legions, ginding primarchs and just basically all the adventures of the great crusade. I was wondering what you guys would think of that? And would BL actually ever go there?

That sort of overlaps with huge chunks of the Horus Heresey novels. (being that the Heresey was the conclusion of the Great Crusade)

It'd give BL somewhere else to go if and when they ever finish the HH series ...

The Great Crusade wasn't really that long, and the most important parts are sort of covered in the HH series already. The Crusade didn't really have many major events, just repetitive compliance struggles.
The only things that stick out to my mind are;
- The creation of the Primarchs and scattering.
- Finding each Primarch.
- Council of Nikea.
- Monarchia.
- Ullanor.
- The fates of II and XI.
- Unity of Terra and Mars.

I actually think it'd be quite boring unless could reinvent it, it was a perfect time were not a lot went wrong for humanity. Then Horus had a tantrum.

Any interesting parts of the Great Crusade should be covered in the Legion-specific sections of Forge World's Horus Heresy series. I'd much prefer to see the HH ended eventually and BL move on to, say, the Age of Apostasy.

Idk id rather see them maybe produce a book about one of the Black Crusades or say that story in the chaos book about how Mortarion infected orks with Nurgelings or the one where perturabo basically turns the entire planet into a giant Daemon Engine

That's funny. You operate under the illusion that GW will "finish" a story line. In 25+ years they haven't. Why would they start now?

If they are ever going to start on another timeline other than 40k, I'd be the most interested in reading about the Codex/the Scouring/the first Black crusade. So much happens and It just seems likes something else they could squeeze a metric #W$^ ton of books of.

The Battle for Terra is not the end of the story,, it's one of its chapter like many others

The Horus Heresy series is still a long way from the invasion of Terra.
