I am currently suffering from Wand Withdrawal, so I can't help right now.
I was showing DovaBear around the new server, and we were in that one Treehouse by spawn (who's is that again?). I, being a stupid, set up one of their Sentry Turrets, hoping it would sing. It killed me, horribly, and I think I lost both my Wand of Fire and my heavily enchanted Wand of Excavation in the lava used to boil the Crucible. Don't worry, nothing was damaged or lost that wasn't mine, though- the turret's back in it's chest.
Now I need another Earth Shard to make another Wand. Dangit.
On the other hand, I did make a new Fire Wand, and it's got Charge and Potency on it, which is cool.
GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Also, don't know if anyone else watches direwolf20's video here, but on 1 of his latest ones, some one said (I think it was slowpoke) that the FtB launcher can use up to 128x texture packs without MCPatcher, OptiFine and anything similar.

They said they had just implemented the hi-res texture packs, it's not in the current version yet.
A lot of the stuff in the SMP videos he does is testing and isn't out yet (like all the Xycraft stuff, but that's coming soon now, as it's downloadable separately...)

I was debating building a wither chamber- a tall building full of snow golems to kill it. We could just do that?

is it normal for the server to crash and then not come back up for hours? twice now it seems like the server crashes and takes forever to come back up. i will try and get a screen shot of what comes up when it crashes.
Servers been giving me massive lag problems lately, unplayable really. I have no clue if it's just me and where the problems at. Just know that it's the only game I have any lag in.
when i first logged on to the server there was some massive lag issues, animal control officer Darkinnit took care off the problem and the lag was reduced.

The lag around spawn was caused by someone overfeeding the animals. I've removed the hoppers from the feed boxes now. Only put wheat/seeds in the feed boxes if there are less than 10 or so animals.
Also we now have a Cave World Age as requested earlier by StormWarriors and Anvildude.
I've also fixed the Mega-build age so it now has land. I couldn't get an acceptable flat-world that was also Mooshroom Biome using Mystcraft, so it's just a Mooshroom age with mountains and valleys etc. You can use the Mega-build age to build anything you like without fear of creepers. However, with Ultimate around the corner I wouldn't get too into anything major.
