Anyone know the most efficient setup for a quarry in terms of both space and resources? Preferably low-end. I'm guessing it's a whole lot of redstone engines?

Iustis and I ar eprobably going to end up claiming a chunk of the mining age to try to expand to the next tech/magic tiers.

Redpower solar panels are a pretty good way of doing it.

Talk Iustis through it next time you two are on? I have little to no experience with redpower aside from using the occasional gate block.

This lappy can't handle minecraft from my tests (it can barely handle dungeons of dredmor...), so I won't be playing until I get my compy back. Which might be a few days at minimum, a few weeks at max.

Redpower PowerSource (Kinetic Generator/Solar Panel) linked to a Blulectric engine pointed at the quarry. Batter Box is optional, and flick the engine on with a lever.
(Just for future reference)

Hm. How many solars should I put on it?

The more the better, the redpower solars aren't that expensive IIRC.

The kinetic generator is pretty awesome too but that uses 4.5 stacks of string.

I don't recall them being expensive either. But I mean what's the most that can be safely applied?

Bluletric engines don't explode IIRC

Of course, a quarry can only use so much power.
Though it would take a lot of bluletric generators (be it solar, thermo or wind) and bluletric engines to reach that point

Sorry matapata, who are you taking to? There werent any wither skulls in your old sorting system and I cant acces tge new one due to lack of flight.

And dark, can I get an inven reset please? I had no idea about the the void pipes and if they weren't there I would have gotten my stuff, some stuff escaped the pipes but it was mostly junk. and tge reason I'm annoyed is due to the loss of my sword which in the triarii all lord tools are heirlooms passed on from lord to lord of each generation as an artifect. That sword was the first one I crafted back on the direwolf server and I spent ages perfecting the enchants.

That wasn't sarcasm...

You can genuinely have infinite solar panels without any negative effects, why wouldn't you?

Usefully, all blulectric components conduct blutricity, so a solar on the end of a row will still power a machine without a direct link. I like Redpower, it's a shame it will likely not be in later versions of the modpack. Are buildcraft pipes smarter now, or are they the same dumb crap they used to be?

Wait, they're removing redpower? What gives? It had GREAT ideas even if you just looked at the single-block gates...

Slow Updates

I believe that's the only reason

EDIT: Though I'n pretty sure that there will be 2 version of the ultimate, 1.5BETA w/o RP and 1.4 version w/ RP, could be wrong, though

I hope we don't drop redpower. I use its gates regularly, so that'd kind of feth me up...

FTb has been getting steadily worse, what modpack does direwolf use for his forgecraft 2 series? That seems to be a good modpack

Redpower's removal is only being considered at this point, but yes the slow updates do hold up the mod pack. Especially as apparently Eloraam (Redpower author) refuses any help to update it.

Dark Apostle, I told you in-game, no. You go inside a machine designed to kill things, you get what's coming to you. If the void pipes were a surprise, then that's probably because you didn't build it and shouldn't have been inside it in the first place.

He uses the beta version of FtB that is designed for the mod authors to test everything, when mods are seen to be ready they are put into a public modpack (like ultimate).

Be patient.
