Darn, just as I was starting to learn the ins-and-outs of that mod.

I'm not fond of that trend of tedium in some of the FTB mods.

Tedium for tedium's sake is bad game design... you have a UI system, ignoring it is painful :/

Maybe an addon which replaces the "chuck it in a puddle' system with a real GUI would be plausible. Call it the Fluix Mixer or something. But the sheer tedium is annoying- if i wanted to be bound by the laws of physics, i wouldn't play Minecraft.

It's still easy, although very unscientific. Just use a obsidian pipe which only activates once every X minutes, where X is the average time the crystal takes to grow. Any unfinished crystals are sorted and returned to the pool, and any finished ones are stored and used.

Someone will mod it. Make a mod for the mod Or an Addon. I was debating trying it myself, but last year of A-levels is not the best time to learn a new programming language.

Ok so i may have broke myself, logging in crashes me with an exception in world tick, i'm for once not entirely sure how i've done it, other than it has something to do with my mffs mining machine in the mining age.

Well after testing I found out what is crashing me, it turns out mffs' force manipulator doesn't like rendering a 82 by 16 by 10 cuboid of moving blocks,(I set it to red stone block mode) and thus minecraft is dying on me logging in, this will also crash anyone who goes near it .

Complete clean install of java and FtB-- and FtB still doesn't work.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Well, I don't technically know if it's not working yet. I first re-launched FtB two hours ago, it's still loading, occasionally updating its console with another bit of information. Hasn't crashed yet. Just hasn't finished yet, either.

Dunno if anyone can make sense of that. That's the final log when it crashed this time.

Try to remove Java again and install the current Java 7 version. And / Or check the advanced java parameters or the system environment variables as there might be a duplicate entry for the Xmx-variable: "Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Xmx512M"

Edit: There might be something helpful about the Xmx issue in these two links:

I've fixed it by removing the two force manipulators. They're in a chest on the platform. I couldn't tell if there were any upgrades in them (I would assume there'd be quite a few), so PM me a list if you want them returned if you're not OK to make them again yourself.

Mel, I'd also recommend staying on Java 7 for now - you can get the 64-bit version from the manual download page - http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

I've seen a few mod devs saying they like what's new in Java 8, but if other mods are currently incompatible with it, it may be worth waiting to upgrade until maybe modded Minecraft 1.7.

I've also noticed the FTB Launcher takes ages to load the modpack list on startup lately. If it takes longer than 5 minutes, just close it and try again. As it's only the modpack list that's taking ages to load, you can sometimes skip it and just click Launch if Monster is already in the list. Another solution might be to export the Monster modpack to MultiMC using the instructions I posted earlier (http://ftbwiki.org/Tutorial:Exporting_FTB_To_MultiMC) - as MultiMC won't try to load the modpack list.

I can re make the upgrades, I will check later if things are working thanks .
Also I an curious are we still updateing in any way?

Unfortunately, Java 7 past a certain (unknown) update conflicts with at least two programs I use regularly, because it no longer recognizes wildcard names (the most prominent example being Launch-MapTool-*.bat). And for some reason FtB's launcher doesn't like having earlier versions of Java installed, it seems to use the earliest version of Java and really lagged the gak out of me when I had Java 6 installed to try to get around the errors of Java 7.

I'm going to try out the Xmx512M fixes.

At some point, yes. I see that Monster 1.1.1 went recommended this weekend. Unfortunately I still have a lot of my time taken up by other commitments, although less so than earlier. I'll say more about updating plans when I have some more time to prepare things.

Hopped on a bit earlier- there was some terrible terrible lag, though. Might have been from the force field issues, though.

I'll probably try again tonight, see if I can't get far enough from spawn, see if that gets me better rates.

When we update, will it be a new world map with enderchests (+research, I guess) transferred?

Anyone have an excessively large amount of Basalt? Want to make use of some in construction.

I've got about 10k basalt cobblestone in my ME storage and a fast electric furnace in case you need to smelt it. Feel free to take some of it (leave me a couple of stacks please).
You can reach my base using the portal at spawn (right click on Tikka's Workshop on the monitor next to it and it opens the portal for a few seconds) or use the link book in the nexus (behind the main nexus portal).

If you don't need too many stacks i can place them at spawn in a chest next to my portal.

I plan on using the Chisel function to make them what I want them to be so smelting them probably wont' be a problem. I' know where your stuff is, Price, so I'll pay ya a visit

Heya. I've recently started back on FTB since the Unleashed server was removed. The new stuff is fun, and I'm happy the cheatyface Dartcraft and Equivalent Exchange were removed.

I wish the Dakka search function was working.

As an aside, could the commands /kill and /tps be enabled? I often like exploring alone and naked, and my bane seems to be annoying non-lethal pits. Additionally, there are occasional lag spikes that I'm not sure if it's server-side or client-side.

I think "/cofh tps" provides the same information as "/tps"
