The list is for local tournament play. The meta game is IG and MEQ heavy, and there are some xeno which are mostly shooty.

  • Basic idea: The core is mobile fire support surrounding a CC core. The SG and the 2 Assault squads are the wedge, with the tacs providing 24" fire support and cover. The Attack bikes for tank hunting. The Raven has a load out to deal with either mech or horde (and air cover where needed). Hope to simply overload Termi/MC spam as I can't really deal with them in CC.

Problems: I wonder if the CC has enough oomph and I'm not sure if the tacticals can keep up. Input, thoughts and suggestions more than welcome

Seems decently solid but I'd add in maybe another Libby and some sternguard in a pod or at least some devis or a furioso in the raven. If you think the assault squads and sanguinary guard don't have that oomph power take a power fist on at least one of the sergeants and one on the sanguinary guard. A personal idea is to add in a Baal pred as a suicide unit to burn some news as you seem to be playing mostly shooty armies and put on all flamers never do half and half but you CAN do all bullet fodder but flame because you can get so close to them. And brother Corbulo just to piss people off with his 2+ FnP rolls and a free refill is pretty nifty. The tax squads should be fine as they can move up pretty quick move 6 turn around disembark 6 but just watch out for first blood shots

Those are some good options. I could drop epistolary from the libby and a SHP to make space for either a Furioso or a Baal pred. Flamers instead of MG in one AS for that extra bit of crisp. Then swap out a tactical for a second libby with/or stern-guard in a pod. Definitely looks better.

Not too sure about a Furioso in the raven, but it seems the only way to get it in cc fairly soon. It would be a sitting duck from a pod.

Dev's do give some cheap long range support, but I have no way to protect them effectively in the back field. Drop the raven and take a lascannon dev squad behind an Aegis Defense Line?

Wonder if an honor-guard gives some benefit over stern-guard? I'd be back at two priests again at the expense of some utility.

I wouldn't think about dropping the Raven. It's way too valuable.

The thing that jumps out at me is the attack bikes. I would drop them for a Predator. I know the multi meltas seem nice, but the odds of you popping a tank before you bike gets smoked are pretty low.

A autocannon, twin lascannon predator though -- better chances, better range, and it's still fast attack.

I'd also consider dropping the melta bombs from the one AS squad, and using it to give the Sanguinary guard the chapter banner. It's an equal point trade -- but if you're afraid of your CC not having enough oomph, it's an easy way to get +1 attack on everything, and if you're grouping them as a wedge you'll likely get a lot of them.

  • Altered the list a bit to incorporate the feedback. Corbulo with Stern Guard (5) in pod to add survivability. Bit worried about the low numbers of the stern guard. Maybe a second Libby or more Stern Guard would be better. Other option would be to drop Corbulo for a second Pred

Do not drop the attack bikes. FNP attack bikes with MM are perhaps a must take in every BA list. The MM is an amazing weapon against a variety of targets. FNP attack bikes suck up a tremendous amount of non-STR10 fire before they go down.

Don't drop the raven, as you need something to shoot hellturkeys.

Fair point, I'd forgotten about the T5 in 6th.

Leaves relatively little choice to vary. Elite slots are quite restrictive. With Libby, Raven and Attack bikes as must haves, I guess it's hard to get more than 50 models on the table at 1750.

Welcome to BA. Home of expensive elites that have pedestrian results in the actual game. BA players building lists frequently forget that the opponent gets a turn too. Where he might do things like move and shoot back. The BA list is too elite for its own good, imo.

However, the mass jumper drop pod thing is one of things that kinda works for us in 6th. Realize though that lists like this will straight up lose to SW and Tyranids like 80% of the time.

Shame the only viable transports seem to be pods. I'm somewhat hesitant to replace my rhinos and razorbacks for a list that get's creamed by assault armies with greater numbers.

I was planning to rely more on the shooty side of the BA with FNP with a CC element. Unfortunately we have to pay through the nose for mobility.

I run 2 Baal Predators with AC and HB sponsoons in my BA list for fast fire support. I know it is a 145 points but moving 12" and still firing 2 weapons at full BS is great, the rest can fire snapshots.

My personal issue with units in droppods is the fact that they are standing face to face in your opponents gunline. You can't assault after you disembark. It's a throw away of points so badly needed elsewhere.

That's why when I drop, I drop in a fragnought and sternguard with Corbulo and librarian. Give the librarian shield of sanguinius and he can give everything a 5+ cover save despite dropping in because it is cast on your opponents' turn. The use of drop pods is best for a jumper-focused list.

Baals are nice fire support platforms but in 6th they are very fragile for their intended role. Imo the only viable non-suicide-preds are AC/LC long range support. For a slightly lower cost the IG get to chose a Vendetta for their FA slots which is almost insulting.

Baal preds with AC and HB can usually keep the AV 13 facing most enemies. The one that gets in real trouble is the flamestorm Baal. That's a suicide tank.
