How do I get my hands on a faarseer on a jetbike?

I do not like the chapterhouse one. It does not look right.

OK, so if I am going to model one, what is the difference from a farseer to a warlock? Just the back scale of the helmet?

For what it's worth, this is how I did mine:

I used Dire Avenger torsos with DE Kabalite heads (I would have preferred Reaver heads, but I'm past that now) and spear arms from a DE set as well (can't remember which atm). Then I made GS cloaks and kilts and GS glyphs on the bike. I'm converting a Shining Spear Exarch into a Farseer, but in my army I also have established that Farseers have white cloaks and Warlocks have blue. There's a ton of reference ideas out there though.

The easiest way to tell Farseers from Warlocks is the 'locks wear robes while 'seers wear robes with coats over the top.

Do anybody have a good rove greenstuff tutorial then?

Edit: My farseer would be from Mymeria. I like the colour scheme. They are very militant from what I recall. Perhaps he would not need to have the robes. Just a lott of runes etc.?

I use the Chapterhouse riders, not the Chapterhouse jet bike conversions. And the riders are excellent.

I agree with Kroothawk. I hate the bike, but that rider looks pretty sweet.

Too bad they don't sell just the riders. :(

Do you mean it? The faseer looks very bonky. The question is: Will he be better then if I convert one from finecast onto a bike.

Do you know any other painted verisons of it? Perhaps it is the paintjob I do not like.

One of the many things which GW has done a great job in not providing a model for (and it has only been what, 6 or 7 years since the Codex came out?).

My memory is a bit foggy - but IIRC, I did mine using a regular jetbike with some bits from the Dire Avenger kit and some GS for the runes and to make the helmets look different from the standard guardian helmet and more like the warlock/farseer helmets.

You get your head and weapons from the Dire Avengers. Use a file to reshape the "tassle" portion of the helmet and then use a putty to smooth what you end up keeping. You can even use the bare faced head in order to get that DoW Farseer look.

With the chest, you will need to do a bit of putty work to get the armor right. Smooth it out, and extend that down over the arms for the flowing cloth shirt and then do your runes. I tended to prefer to do the runes on a flat bit of glass and then pop them off and move them onto the figure. The legs take a bit of thinking. Regular robes don't work well - and Farseers/Warlocks look a bit odd riding side saddle like a proper lady wearing a dress would. In order to keep the somewhat flowing look - so I ended up doing them like a hakama.

Not an out of the box solution - but it actually goes pretty fast and uses parts that you probably have on hand if you play Eldar (used to have tons of extra stuff from the Dire Avengers...).

Best bit to use for the legs is the HE Mage's mounted legs. Never tried it IRL, but they should fit on the jetbike with a little trimming.

Don't over complicate your build.

1. Get the rider torso/legs and merge it with a farseer body and a small amount of green stuff OR
2. Put it on weapon's platform.

Pictures are below.

Option 1 does not seem so bad,

I'm not sure where I got the bits, but I picked up a spear and sword blade (plastic) that seem very Eldar. I've been using them for conversions on my GJB, but they'd work great for Farseer conversions. Maybe they are from the DA box?

Option 1 is very simple. Have to remember this model was done 13 years ago. Paints and styles were very different from that age Secondly because its is easier to carry in your model in your case.

I keep all of my models to represent things I have done in the past as well as the learning curve achieved. The picture does not do justice to what the model looks on the table top.

Again it is the lower part of the rider's body with the upper part of the warlock. Oh one more thing I took the hand of the Eldar rider and merged it with the Faarseer arm.

I never really liked the chapterhouse ones either and the Harley-Davidson pose of the classical Eldar jetbike really looks outdated in my opinion.

So I decided stick some greenstuff on a reaver jetbike and the result wasn't half bad if you ask me. (the backfins still need a lot of work though...)

So here's the warlock conversion I'm working on at the moment.

My advise? Making stamps out of greenstuff for the fine details works wonders.

That looks awesome, I really like the GS work you've done.

Incidentally (for the OP) there is a farseer jetbike conversion in the showcase forum at the moment. It is also very cool LINK

Thank you Smacks.

I am just wondering how would you other feel like playing that venom as a "count as" jetbike? Would it be legit or not? :-/

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I found some good parts from some cold one riders and the black dragon kit from some storm of magic convertions I did.

These parts fit as I can use the metal armour of them as blueprints for the cloth on the farseer.

What I wonder is how to make the head? do anybody know of a good head that is a good place to start aplying green stuff to make a farseer? I was thinking some of the dark eldar helmets should do the trick?

Edit:

My room mate had an old farseer he once bought on sale! :-D I now have a head. Just need to "fur up" the body with greenstuff and cloth and I am there :-)
