I managed to pick up the starter 2 player box , the Khador book and the rule book. I also grabbed 2 models which are the Kodiak and Man-o-War Drakhun. I love these models, and have a idea for a type of list i would like.
What is the play style of the mechanics and that mechanic officer? Id like them to march behind my jacks and keep repairing them.. While also have a bunch of the infantry in front of the jacks shooting(cannot remember their name grey coats i think..(very unsure).
I am going to grab that battle wagon and Colossus simply because they are beautiful models, and probably run a 2 caster list. What are you guys thoughts on the idea i have of a bunch of infantry,Man-o-war shock troopers, Man-o-war Drakhun, jacks, mecanics, then 2 casters?

mechaniks huddled behind a conquest is an effective way to run them. You won't really need the mechanik officer unless you want them to help out men-o-war as well.
If those greycoats your thinking of are winterguard infantry, they are quite a good choice for ranged infantry -particularly with their officer and Kovnik Joe.
I like your wishlist as the core of a collection, but two casters is awfully light, you'll probably end up with most of them. You may also end up wanting some odds and ends that support some aspects of your army, but you'll know when you get to that point.

2 casters on one side in a game is extremely rare. 99.9 % of games are 1 caster and between 15 and 50 points. That said picking up 2 warcasters is a good idea for having options.
Before you go to far trying to build a list read through the rule book section on list building near the start.

Pick Up eIrusk so he can get the shocktrtoopers to move 7" while shieldwalled (4 in activation, 3" at the end of all activations).
If your going mow shocktroopers , i suggest hiding great bears or dem corps behind them for some killing power , either with battle lust on them is obscene. Both can get 5 dice on the charge with battle lust.
E irusks fire for effect on a destroyer can make it a pretty devestating weapon. It adds a dice to hit on a first attack plus adds a dice to damage on that first attack, this also works with one half of the battle wagon.
He can bond a non character jack for +2 def and no knockdown, making a destroyer or juggy that much harder to pin down.
If you are going to run 2 jacks and one of them isn't a destroyer , I'd suggest you look into getting sylys wyshnyllyr , he can upkeep a spell for 2 points which will leave irusk with focus to power jacks, however if one of them is a destroyer ,fire for effect is all the focus it will need after it's first turn.
Actually i'd suggest him anyways, battlelust is a costly spell, 2 upkeeps plus battlelust doen't leave you with much focus.

Hiding behind colossals or jacks can have dire consequences when facing any army with chain lightning.Or sprays.
Drakhun isn't bad but if you want to run MOW, you have to be prepared for them to pretty much run every turn because they're very very slow. Might want to take doomreavers as your infantry because then they can run in front while your MOW run behind and the enemy has to kill the doomreavers first which gives the MOW some breathing space

Yeah, certain merc units work for different armies, as well as certain minions pulling a double duty and working for warmachine forces. The details are on their cards, and might also be on battle college, I'm not sure on that last one though. They can help plug holes that your army has, or interesting buffs and what not (for instance one of the merc warcaster attachments gives you a free upkeep, basically signs and portents on your first spell of the turn, and another buff)

You can use Mercs with your faction. If you look up Khador on Battle College and scroll down the page a bit you'll see a list of the units that will work with them.

In my opinion if he wants to run Shocktroopers eIrusk totally mitigates any speed problems, under tactical supremacy they run 8 and tactical 3 first turn, then 2nd turn move 4 and tactical 3.
Against a spd 6 unit they end up at exactly the same point on the board, i think people talk down about the MOW Shocktrtoopers when with eIrusk there is no reason to. Granted it's only one unit that is speeded up but it's a hell of a resistant unit at arm 21 and 8 damage. It also hits fairly hard and is fearless, if it can move as fast as spd 6 units what is not to love?

Def 11?
If he's only running 1 unit of MOW, then eIrusk is pretty good. Especially since he gives tough if positioned correctly. As well as battle lust.

Lets say a guy wanted a force to use from the 2 player battlebox.
In my opinion minimum outlay wise:
1 juggy
1 destroyer
5 shocktroopers
get eIrusk $9
get widowmakers $20
sylys wyshnaylyr $9
= 25 points
Widowmakers to take out 1 wound infantry coupled with a fire for effect destroyer.
shockies and juggies for heavy targets
My point is if he wants to use shocktroopers, it is intensely viable at low points levels.
for $40 not only does he get 1 casters and a very valuable merc, he also gets widowmakers, which are usable in many lists.
there is alot of talk on khador forums how baTTLEbox jacks and MOW are useless.
Looking at this list i'd like someone to tell me why they are useless.
THat is alot of armour coupled with potential damage (battlelust)and adaptable long range fire in a very small list. and its cheap if you got the 2 player battlebox.
This kind of list is why i listen to the khador forums but don't pay a whole lot of attention to them.

ive been reading the Rule book a bit each night after my kids go to bed, right now..you guys are all speaking foreign language to me haha. My first game i played my Khador jacks from the starter set Mowed down the Menoth stuff (2 player starter set). I more so love the look of the models, and the huge over the top steampunk feel to them. I am confused on one thing though, I did read in the rule book where it says A unit will tell you how many you can take. But..for Winterguard it says: field allowance 3, leader & 5 grunts 4, leader & 9 grunts 6. So does this mean i can take 3 normal units 4 units of A leader and 5 and 6 units of leader and 9? I'm trying to learn the game quick but i want to learn it right lol.

no those are point values
the leader and 5 grunts is 4 points
leader and 9 grunts is 6 points
you can take a total of 3 units
unit attachments and stuff don't count towards the 3 limit

Or he could just get great bears to bump the list up to 25. Without needing another warcaster.
