Need a list builder... I am getting back into 40k, tried searching for Armybuilder (I used it back in the day and have the V2.0 CD).

What does everyone use to put a list together and edit it quick? Where can I get data files? What options are out there?

Most folks I know use Army Builder still. I think you can get updates for it if you have it legally.

I have a generic free Excel based list builder, only for Space Marines, but the creator has them for other armies. They come from here. The author says to beware of errors, but I've never found any.

I used battlescribe before I got Army Builder, I wont be going back. I believe if you want to update AB you will get a discount as a past owner (maybe). I have not looked at their site in a little while so I cannot remember.

What I like most is the presentation of the lists along with page number references to the rulebooks. I often sit down and build 5 or so lists at a time when thinking about what I want to do next.

I love the flexibility of Battlescribe.

You could try it and see if you like it.

I had several problems trying to download Battlescribe. The difficulty in doing all the extra steps required didn't seem to be worth the effort to me.

I use quartermaster for ios systems. Cheaper than armybuilder, but you need to get templates from qmtemplates.com its very well maintained by the community though.

Someone reccommended battlescribe in the past in a recent discussion like this. Though I do not know how to do the additional steps, would anyone know how this is done?

You know, your computer comes with a basic notepad. So does your phone.

Army list software usually just adds a horrid amount of useless information that's difficult to parse through to find anything useful. A simple note with the units and the pertinent upgrades is better than some software suite monstrosity.

For me, Battlescribe works fine. I had it on my computer, and a week ago or so I got the free iPhone app. BTW, Battlescribe is free, and downloading codexes is super easy.

Yeah, setting up battlescribe is easier than some people make it out to be. A nice quick way for you to set up some quick lists at no cost.

I personally prefer the printouts and the way the information is displayed on Army Builders sheets though.
