Just how messed up are things in France that (former) Soviet Russia looks like a better place to be?

That story became old about 2 months ago. Basically, a bunch of renowned french actors and signers got togheter to protest the latest tax hike, threatening to emigrate to Russia if the government didn't back down. Hollande told them 'tough luck', and now you've got Putin's new publicity stunt.

Between that and peeing in a plane's alley drunk out of your mind, it's a tough fall from grace for France's most respected actor.

"Yemelyan Pugachev was a peasant tsar who came to Kazan and to Saransk," Depardieu said, according to Russia Today. "I am like Pugachev: I am a peasant, and I want to be tsar of Saransk."

Maybe he should think about what happened to Pugachev.

It is strangely humane, but then it was Catherine the Great.

AH! That's one way to look at it. To me, it was more ''Russia. Don't feth with us, or we'll execute you, then abuse your corpse''.

You're a silver lining kind of guy, Dogma, you truly are.

I'm just stuck on the idea of somehow Russia being better than France. Never thought that would happen in a million years.

Well that's a new slogan for the Russians "Russia: Better then France!"

Somewhere in south-central England.

Frankly Depardieu is behaving like a spoilt child.

The tax is only on annual earnings over 1,000,000 Euros. He is hardly scraping by if he falls into that bracket.

His entire career is built on being French and acting in French films.

Hopefully the French cinema-going public will treat his next work with the respect it deserves.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Shockingly when you make over a million euros you want to keep that money, and if you're wealthy leaving isn't a problem. France is now learning what New York State did by doing the same thing.

You also want kept roads, a police department, a fire department, food standards, no mercury in your water, ect ect...

Even people who make less than a million Euros want to keep money as well.

No easy way out on that one. You want the kept roads, etc, but you also don't want to find yourself in the position of being the guy fronting the costs for everyone else in a country where labor laws are so screwy.
