So a friend and I were working out a list using only foot soldiers and focusing heavily on conscripts and here is what we came up with.
I have enough models to do it (using proxies for some sweet tyranid conscripts with... um... Bio Priests?) and want to know if it is unplayable, or just awful.
HQ:CCS
Creed, Kell, Bodyguardx2, Medic
Troop:
PCS Melta x 4
Infantry, Melta
Infantry, Vox, Melta
Conscripts x 30
Troop
PCS Melta x 4
Infantry, Melta, Vox
Infantry, Melta
Conscripts x 30
Troop
PCS Melta x 4
Infantry, Melta, Vox
Infantry, Melta
Conscripts x 30
"HQ"Priest x 3, Eviscerator x 3
HQ: CCS
Standard, Vox, Meltabomb
The priests go in the conscript squads to give them "hidden powerfists" for threatening vehicles in melee, and when combined with creed's for cadia furious charge make for a pretty powerful unit in combat.
Basic battle plan, conscripts in front in blocks, melta mixed behind with the command squads spaced to prevent both getting wiped at the same time. Walk forward each turn and FRF!SRF!, For Cadia!, Bring it Down! as needed.
Strengths? Weaknesses? Changes?
I thought about using Chenkov, and cutting the priests cutting some points elsewhere, but SITNW is really expensive, and I think the conscript squads can be formidable in this build.

2-in coherency on 4pt models means that your big expensive blasts don't account for much.
Flamer templates would obvious pose another problem, but it's a horde army, you expect to take big losses to anti-horde weapons. The question about blasts and flamers is whether there are enough bodies that you don't need to care about losing 7 guys to a blast.
I also know it doesn't have skyfire, but with Bring it down on all those melta squads and with many flyers only able to kill a few models a turn it doesn't seem like that big of an oversight.

Hey...
Just because it is simple and stupid doesn't mean it won't work.

The only problem I can see is that you will have to get really, really close to kill tanks. This might be hard to do with 90 conscripts in the way...

I think Chenkov would be worthwhile. He lets you run everything forward, and the first Conscript squad to nearly die turns into your rear objective holder.
Kell and Voxes together seem excessive to me. Of course, orders are critical to a charging blob army.
Your sergeants could use more power weapons, and I'd be personally more inclined to use fewer platoons with larger blobs. They'll be more survivable, getting to their target and making contact. The last thing you want is to limp into a charge with only a dozen bodies. A Marine squad would wipe the floor with that, even after sustaining melta fire.
Otherwise, it's hilarious and potentially effective.

Well, I could use Creed to outflank one of the infantry blobs to make a go at some of his tanks. Then I have to be very careful to bubble wrap the command squads with the conscripts.

Ok so Here is 4 30 man blobs, with much more CC ability. A lot more reliant on Creed's survival as it has far fewer bodies. However the SITNW gives me a lot more freedom to be reckless with the conscripts (I know I don't get the priests back) And allows me to defend my deployment zone late game with reinforcements.
I sprung for the extra platoon standards, I know it reduces the melta threat, but it also adds potentially +4 to combat resolution which would be huge for this force. Apparently even Necrons are terrified of a bunch of humans running at them with flags in hand.

"Once I knew the killbots had a preset kill limit I threw wave after wave of my own men..."
Chenkov is 100% required for such a strategy.
Platoon standards are absolute garbage, spend the points elsewhere. Getting+1 to resolution will suck(+4 means all of your commanders are in combat, something you want to avoid). You will either sweep the combat with ease via power blobs, or die.
I am a firm believer that CCS's should have krak grenades if possible. For a steal of a deal each model gets a weapon that can hurt a dread, most tanks, and MC's. They can also throw one of those bad boys at close range and on overwatch. Way better than melta bombs for just the commander.
Without any long range guns, you could be in trouble, but I respect the theme.
A medic is never worth it. 30 points for a 5+ FNP check for T3 models? No thanks. It would have to save several models to make its points count, and a called shot or well placed barrage can take out the medic instantly. S6+ weapons are everywhere. Better to take another infantry squad, or more special weapons.

Ah, I didn't realize the standards only effected the unit themselves. I would drop them for melta for sure.
I see your point on the medic, but my concern is that Creed is a terrific force multiplier and I want that furious charge bonus. I just put in the medic because I want everything I can get keeping him alive. I even considered putting him in a Chimera, then thought better of it.
Now that I thinking about it, I actually agree with you on the Krak Grenades over Meltabombs.
If I drop the medic and "downgrade" the platoon banners to melta guns, I can afford 4 more melta guns in the secondary command squad... I think I like that better.

For more shenanigans (and purely in the theme of this army) take a deathstrike missile. Nothing says expendable more than having your conscripts ring around an opponent to box him in for a strike... and maybe losing 10 to 20 models in the process just adds to the hilarity.

A deathstrike would be a great way to maximize the conscript potential. Remember, conscrips should be dying in droves, and always be on the front lines.
"You have to hit the bullseye, then the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards!"
"When I am in command, every mission is a suicide mission!"
This embodies the deathstrike/conscript combo. The only thing is, Creed IS a tactical genius, and Zap....well...no.

This army is great... hilarious... and squishy. Pray that you don't face an Eldar Corsair army. Sonic Torpedoes hurt (D6 + 6" blast, S4 AP5 pinning, and I think ignore cover).

So far the effectiveness of 10 Wraithblades with Ghost Axes:
Tanked 2 Leman Russ squadrons (including the battle cannons and the triple plasma variant); whilst also getting wailed on by everything imaginable in a Fortress of Redemption. Only to get into CC with the tanks and open them up.
2000 points worth of Necrons with Forgeworld additions. Got into CC with a court of Lords and opened them up.
Killed a GUO.
Killed Angrath the Gargantuan Bloodthirster in an Apoc game (with the help of Iranna the Spirit Seer).
Ate a Hammerhead, pathfinders and scored after 3 turns of walking towards a 2000 point Tau gunline and overwatch!
And counting............ |

Hmmm... While I can see where you are coming from, 1 Deathstrike would cost 20+ bodies as well as some equipment. I would definitely include one (maybe even 2) at 1850, but I can't see the lone vehicle in the army surviving long enough to fire. Although, I'm pretty sure I could put up a 12" bubblewrap so that nothing could hide inside it's minimum range.

Depending on the terrain, you could literally hide it behind a wall (or something for cover), and as an added bonus, every enemy model that fires at the Deathstrike Missile is a model that is not shooting at your horde.
Or a bubble wrap would work, cause nothing says protected quite like a wall of human shields.
