Forge world will release this on Friday March 1st, and the title says it all. First, they now have a HH abbadon model (for the Kit-bashers to make a awesome 40k abby) and they give us the much beloved Garviel Loken. Im stoked about this, what do you guys think?

I think this thread, being more of a general thread on this topic is fine.

Well, in that case, the first picture I saw was not so great, but the close-ups make the models look pretty awesome!

Lots of detail, the models themselves look good. Although I'm not building a Black Legion army as I decided I like Emperor's Children better, so I probably won't acquire these.

My only disappointment is that they have yet to release any primarch other than Angron. I sent an email to FW asking if they planned on taking 9 or 18 years to put out the rest of the primarchs. Their response was that they "..do not intend to rush the Horus Heresy project.." Which, to me, implies at most 1 per year. At that rate my interest in FW specific units has dropped and I'll either scratch build or buy alternatives.

I'm not entirely sure how long it takes to go from concept art to production on a single model.

They look good but I'd like an option to be able to get them separately as I'd rather have an abaddon than loken to add to my CSM as an alternative to the current 40k abaddon.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

I've got an email stating that Horus and Fulgrim will be released in this calendar year, for what that is worth.

Wow, those are some really nice looking models, but what else would you expect from FW? I think it was a pretty bold decision to model Abaddon with arms, thats artistic license for you...

I need an Abaddon model for my enemy army, and I am having a nerd-attack for Garviel. I was introduced to 40K with the HH and so Garviel was there for my first steps so this is extremely exciting!

Very nice models. My money is on Abaddon. At least he remembered to bring a power sword.

I'm the other way around, love the model for Loken and think Abaddon's face is a little too derp.

I will be most interested in seeing the eventual conversions that come from these two as I don't partake of HH.

Does anyone know how many pieces they will be in? Solid one piece torso & legs? seperate arms etc...I cant quite tell from the pictures.

Krieg! What a hole...

head, torso, legs, both arms separated, faint possibility of an helmeted head (Theodore Bruckner style).

If you scroll down, you see Abaddon with a strange gun with 4 barrels, so there's that.

Edit: Legs are separated.

Through the looking glass

Can't say I'm a huge fan of the poses. Considering Loken is charging Abbadon, I'm going to assume he's good in CC. If that's the case I kind of would expect a more melee oriented stance from him. He's also charging a guy decked out for CQC face smashing, so if he's not that good in CQC the last place he needs to be is up close with a chainsword and bolt pistol.

Abbadons lightning claw is at an odd angle as well. Kind of wish the power sword was in a cross defense, give the impression he intends to block the bolt with it.

I like it a lot and Loken is one heck of a character, but it's still not a must buy for me.

Now, if they release Nathaniel Garro, oh yeah, I won't even need to think and consider if it's worth it or not because of how expensive it probably will be for a single model. IT'S FREAKIN' GARRO!!!

I will also happilly throw money at FW if they release the "Half-Heard". Damn, how I loved the "The Flight of the Eisenstein".

Not read the book (either of them, the novel or the rulebook)?

Clearly they are made not for the diorama, but as battlefield units in your army (that's why they have three bases).

At that distance, given Space Marine captain reactions and reflexes, they may as well be a mile from each other. There's plenty of time for them to change before they get into melee.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.
