Hey mates, since its apparent that the GK's can't get the Stormtalon, I have started looking at the Stormraven a lot more and still debating on what I should do with them weapon-wise. Currently, I run a Mech-Heavy Warrior Acolyte list thanks to Coteaz, with multiple squads in Chimeras and Razorbacks w/TLLC's, so at the moment Im looking at a jack-of-all-trades Stromraven build. Currently, I know I want to run the Assult Cannon, as it is great against pretty much everything in the game, however Im debating on what weapon to run on the nose of the Stormraven, and if the Hurrican Bolters are worth taking in this case. Anyways, just want to hear how you guys run your Stormravens and what weapon-builds you have found successful in this current edition.

Multi-melta, Assault cannons, Hurricane Bolters, and Psybolts is how I run them. Expensive, but the best overall.

If you're set on the Assault Cannon, take hurricanes and psybolt. It makes the assault cannon much better, and the bolters gain some punch. Most people recommend the MM in front, I agree because it gives you some potent anti-armor that the GK codex is otherwise lacking in, good against flyers or deployment zone artillery. The big thing is to take advantage of POTMS, you can fire 5 weapons with it (another reason to add the hurricanes), one of which can be at a different target.

My personal builds are either:
1. PC (for the clustered deepstriking termies), MM, hurricanes
2. AC, HB, hurricanes with psybolt (GK dakka jet)

Reason I like the Assult Cannon is because its great against everything, which is always nice. However I have been told that the MM isnt worth it since that it has a narrow line-of-sight window and that from many, they say the the Dakka GK Stormraven is the best as it can take out armor and troops. But there are a lot of Guard players with armor 14 running around at my store, so thats why Im not sure and still debating it.

How does this work out against opponents? As just from looking at this build I think the Hurricane Bolters might be a bit of a waste, as your SR is more suited to an Anti-Tank role then anything else but that's just my personal opinion on that, as Hurricane Bolters are very expensive. But I do believe the Blood Angels Stromraven is a lot better in one reguard, which is the ability to take S8, AP 1 missiles, whereas the GK's are stuck with S4, psyker missiles, though which are great against psykers but not much else from what I have seen.

The assault cannon is actually superior anti-tank to the lascannon. Its more likely to penetrate AV14 while also having the ability to cause multiple damage results. And range isn't an issue on a flyer, the real issue is getting your attack run set up.

Plus the Assault Cannon is also superior against infantry and meshes well with the Hurricane Bolters.

And Psybolts bring the assault cannon up to an even better state.

I too prefer the DakkA Gunship loadout on my GK Stormraven, AC, HB, Hurricanes and Psybolts. Been considering a longer ranged build of ML, LC for anti-tank sniping, but haven't tried it yet.
