The client sent me tactical marines and combi weapons.

I didnt want them to look too much like regular tacticals so i raided my ever growing mountain of bits and tried to paint a sufficient ammount of extra details to make them stand out.

The free hand blood drop over the sergeants helmet just came to me as i was painting. I thought it would be fun and something i havnt seen before so i went ahead and added it.

Hope you like them. Thanks for comments.

the OSL is appropriate, not to bright and subtle the way it should be. I love the way the helmets turned out especially the sgt. Great idea with the blood drop mark. Excellent work!

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress
800 points of unassembled Urban themed Imperial Guard
650 points of my do-it-yourself Tempest Guard
675 points of Commoraghs finest!

The Dude - "Jackie Treehorn treats objects like women, man."

Lord Helmet - "I bet she gives great helmet."

Very nice! I'm always a sucker for well painted Blood Angels, the OSL is nicely done too.

The only minor thing is from a fluff point of view. Yellow blood drops on the shoulder pads denote the Second Company, whereas the Sternguard should be 1st Company veterans -

I really like these, they're simple, but most definitely veterans of the chapter. And the OSL is just superb.

I too like the osl. It's not obnoxious, and it adds to the piece rather than detracting from it. (It isn't just shoehorned in to show how good of a painter you are.)

I don't really like the inverted blood mark on the sergeant's face. To me, it feels less 'heraldric' and more 'war paint,' which I think might be more at home on an ork or a kroot model. That's just a personal opinion, though, and clearly you have support for it. The only other thing appears to be the banners on the shoulders of the sergeant and the guy standing to his left. Do you have anything written on them? If not, I feel like you're missing a great opportunity for some awesome detailing.

Your detail work is second to none, by the way! However did you get those magnificent purity seals to look like that? And what materials do you use for your grass? It looks delightfully spiky and stiff...

I suppose the face drop was a bit of a gamble. Client says "it's incredible" so im happy. Maybe it's one of those things you either love it or hate it. It's something you dont see everyday atleast.

There's thin black "writing" lines on the shoulder scrolls - same as on the purity seals. You can see it more clearly if you save the picture then zoom in. Maybe on my next character commission i'll paint his name somewhere in proper black lettering.

Thanks. For the purity seals i used gryphon sepia and ogryn flesh to create shadows then bleached bone then white for the highlights. The grass is the buffalo grass from silflor, i use two different kinds for some colour variation.

PM me about commission.

Should be first company, not second . Nice OSL on combi-plasmas.

Dude, so long as the client is happy, that's the important part. Double kudos for taking an artistic risk and having it pay off!

I am aware of this. The client is a regular customer and he has told me he is not a purist. In the past Ive painted dark angels models for him to use as blood angels, he told me to leave all of the dark angels iconography as is. Basically he doesnt care as long as it looks good.

That said, if someone were to want me to follow the squad markings strictly, I can do that too.

EDIT

^^The reason i picked drops over skulls: With a bit of work i like the look of the yellow blooddrops alot more.

Does anyone know of a better looking set of skull transfers I should pick up?

Just stating MY opinion like everyone else. Sorry it wasn't what you wanted to hear. You're posting your work publicly to be scrutinized by the masses. That is what its all about right?

And he, in turn, was stating his opinion, and that his client, the owner of the models, is nonchalant towards the matter.

But yeah, fantastic work!

Right, but it's no reason to dismiss mine. Nice work on the captain, 5 o'clock shadow is impressive.
