So, I'm not really a big Bioshock fan. They're good games, successful AAA titles. Just not a huge fan.

But what surprised me today is a meter on Steam outlining the various levels of goodies you'll receive, including at level 3 a copy of X-Com. Not a bad reward at all. Two games for $60.

Level 1 is a free copy of bioshock 1, level 2 is some TF2 items (really?! That seems like a crap reward, to be honest. I don't even play this game). And the big reward at level 3 being X-Com, by most accounts an awesome game.

To be honest though, I'd rather just pay $30 for X-Com (when they reduce the price, hopefully!), and forget about Bioshock, as I'm still running XP. :(

What does Dakka think? Clearly a lot of gamers want this, as they're ~50% of the way to the level 2 pre-order reward.

Myself, I'm pretty opposed to paying 60 bucks for a game that I may or may not enjoy (and don't meet the system requirements for).

Honestly, I don't think Infinite will ever come out.

And they've been doing this for a lot of games recently, its almost like a pseudo kickstarter

Sure why not. It's basically a limited form of kickstarter. Not QUITE the same, but hey, free stuff that they'd probably have made in to a paid DLC otherwise, not complaining.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.
