This somehow makes me sorry to be unable to join the map drawing contest - "300 mu slingers in the narrows of the Gearesdan" seems very fitting for that promise.

So apparently when they add the third "behemoth" size figure (a gnomish war machine) there will be a bundle deal to get all three (it, the war elephant, and the giant rhino warrior) at a 25% cheaper price. I've actually waffled on and off about getting the elephant or not, mainly due to price per figure concerns, but this clears that issue up a bit.

Initial sketches of it (not final yet) and description:

The gnomes of Torn are a very rare race; very few of them are seen about the world. Those that do exist are fixated with developing their life's dream: an invention to beat all inventions. Something that will indelibly place them into the annals of time. Every gnome chases a different dream, a different device, many spend decades tinkering with pieces, parts and gadgets all related to that masterwork creation. And so enters "Moriarty's Bell." This is a gnomish clockwork assault platform.

The initial sketches are done, now we'll go into final artwork and add the gnomes. . Imagine steam engines, metal crab arms, rivets, levers, more steam engines, wheels, and gnome spellcasters hurling random magic from the gantry. From the top something called a "Ploozmoo" belches forth violent magical energies, and down below Moriarty himself sits on his control platform, wrestling this contraption into the fray. With wild hair, a "British" pith hat upon his head, hussar jacket flapping open about his torso, and wild mustache perched under bulging eyes.

Ladies and gents, I announce to you: "Moriarty's Bell." From a game perspective this will be a "Assault Behemoth" (called an Assault Platform). It will have two spell casters on the gantry and a wild gnomish spell-belcher (called a Ploozmoo). It will have the advantage of range, and the ability to attach spells to the unit (unheard of for assault types). But it will have the disadvantage of the ranged attacks and melee attacks being weaker than normal, and ... well ... this is gnomish ... if the ranged attacks miss during a round, it will take the entire of the next round to fix the problem, and if the melee attacks miss, then Moriarty's Bell actually hurts itself. We cannot wait to show you the concept artwork (and final artwork!) on this one.

We will add it as an add-on when the artwork is in and final.

It will be $40 - same as the other two behemoths - but we will be offering a "set of all 3 behemoths" at a reduced price.

And there's the whole no shipping thing, of course

Personally, I'm getting really tempted now. It will be interesting to see what stretch unlocks at 40K (is that already listed somewhere?) since it's at 39K now.

Atm, the $150 goal doesn't have enough stretches to make it worth it, but since their funding goal is 50K if this funds it will get 2 more stretch goals included at least (one every 10K).

I'm assuming the 3-behemoth pack should be around $100. That would make a "completionist" pledge around $250.

Or just the base game and the clockwork dragon (with Torn Armor rules) for $75, or that plus the minotaur brothers and lithograph for $100. Hmmmm...

The 40k "unlock" are the two leaders: The cat lord with the fancy headdress and the warrior with the ornate armor and sword raised. So at this point the revealed stuff for the "stretch" tier once this funds will be 3 flying cavalry, a rabbit pirate and her crossbow wielding monkey, and the two leaders. There will likely be at least one other thing added at 50k but not sure what yet (I've seen some mention of a few of the CSM Torn kickstarter figures being added, but not its not definite).

They've said elsewhere that the 3 behemoth pack will be likely be $90.

Just an FYI, the deal is a bit better if you look for one of the promo codes from various podcasts. There's a few of the podcasts linked here:

Painted mini

It got favorable comments on the KS page, but I'm not very impressed with that mini. I know it's a painted 3D print, but still... there's no fur on that mouse

Agreed, its a nicely sculpted figure.. but the lack of actual fur on the model makes it look off. The painter did a great job of faking the fur with strokes, but I think it would look much better with actual fur sculpted on. It'd also be easier to make look good without being a skilled painter.

Also pants.

Disclaimer:
The Last time I posted something slightly negative against a Kickstarter project it was seen as my having a vendetta against that Kickstarter. It wasn't the case then, and it isn't the case now. This is just my opinion as someone who regularly releases miniatures, and especially Anthropomorphic miniatures.

These are going to be in plastic aren't they? If so, that makes fur tough. I'd rather no fur (or rather all fur but no texture) than some of the brutal fur that's sculpted on some GW models.

Congrats to anyone who can get a miniatures game funded these days, there's just way too many project active right now.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Probably a stupid question, but am I right to assume this is basically a 2 player game? What I'm reading suggests it but I'd just like to be sure.

I'm interested in pledging but am a bit on the fence since the group I board game with ranges in size from 4-6 people. I suppose at 4 people we could pair off and armchair general if it's only 2 players.

Just a handful...

Hey Guys! I've just been made aware of this thread, so forgive me if I have missed a few questions!

Just a couple of things:
The little mouse guy (mu) is a 3d print off a model - it's a prototype. Remember that Jason Wiebe is doing the actual sculpts for the entire anthropomorphic line

Nephilem: this is a 2-4 player game. It fits 2 very well due to the nature of skirmish games, *BUT* we wanted to break the mold a little ("mould" for our UK fans =D) and so pureposefully made it so it could scale up in every way: rules complexity, board size, army size, and players.

Thanks for posting here again . But isn't the Mu sculpt final, despite that being a 3D print of it? Or is there a chance for fur?

Didn't know Jason did cg sculpting, he did a great job on our Reptiles... But was very slow, taking several months longer then expected.

From what I understand, the 3D sculpts are only a backup to keep on schedule. The models Jason is working on will be traditionally sculpted.

Basically, if the sculpting takes far too long, they can send the completed 3D files to the production facility and have them print and cast them.

That is correct.

This is a 3d model for prototype purposes. We have Jason Wiebe doing traditional sculpting. HOWEVER, if Jason runs behind I am a huge fan of having backups so at that point we will refine 3d models (like enhancing the fur) and use that.

NONE of these should be considered final, as changes will occur prior to and because of production.

Oh, that makes a big difference, then! It'd be great if he could get up a green before this ends just to show what a "final" sculpt might look like . I feel like I saw some for the other faction, but nothing fuzzy

ugh, I really hate Jason's MS Paint composites.. I wish he'd just send proper photos.. Its really hard to make out details with the JPEG artifacts.

I agree with you. It was something I noticed during the Low Life Miniatures project. I just... I like individual, high res shots that show the details!

I've been carefully looking at my finances this evening, but unfortunately I just don't think I can swing this :-/. However, I have a friend who is buying in, and I'll be watching with great interest! I definitely think it'll make it's $75K stretch by the end.

I also anticipate picking up some of those Maychian golems when they become available. I absolutely love things like that! But I guess you only get one of each in the game box atm.
