who else plays, after the two latest updates i came back and love it all over agin.

for those who dont know what it is its a kind of sci-fi/special forces game where you play as a agent combating both other agents, mutants and members of "The Order"

its a free-to-play game and is really good in gameplay, graphics and has cutomisation on a RPG level.

It's a F2P FPS, with gun customization. That's about the gist of it.

Seriously though, BL: R is good. Possibly the only military-esque shooter I can say I like.

Agreed, it's so good totalbiscuit, if you know him he's a really negative guy, said it was the best FPS he's played and the gameplay is better than tribes:ascend, and thats his favourite game!

My processor is breaking down or I'd continue to play-- sadly, too many medical expenses in the family to justify upgrading my computer at the moment. It's an awesome little game, quite possibly the best free-to-play first person shooter ever released. And better than most purchasable shooters, too.

Snipers are not hard to take out, prevent, or locate.

In fact, the game is better than almost any other in terms of balance between sniping vs assault styles of play.

Bolt Action Rifles are op. Fast and easy to kill with.

Yeah, bolt action rifles are annoying. Useless at close range though.

The issue I see is the horrifying amount of points to unlock anything forever.

As a sniper myself, they aren't that good, you gotta use them like they should be used to get maximum affect, any weapon can be equally good.
A tactical SMG with a barrel that increases accuracy, grip that decreases spray and recoil and incendiary ammo is way better. And cheap for high levels.

Most of them are two shots unless it's a headshot, or if you're wearing VERY light armor-- at which point you should be moving cover to cover anyway.

Sure, they're better at long range than assault rifles, but then again they SHOULD be. But at medium and short ranges it's quite easy to disrupt a sniper's focus or outright klil them.

I found it that they could snipe me no scope so close range was out of the question. A good person with a bolt action rifle does not camp in this game.

So anybody still play this? Got back into it and levelled up a lot, quite annoyingly they've made receivers permanent only so you can get them easily unless it's a premade. BUT they've made three days the baseline rather than 1 day so your stuff lasts longer for the same price.

Punkbuster is an anti-cheat program. You can remove it as I have played BL:R many times after I removed it as it was causing some serious freezes/CTD. I cant remember how to though.

Ill see what I can dig up though.

EDIT: Found it. Now the path to the folder may differ for yourself, I prefer to hold all my games on my 1TB HDD.

D:\Steam\SteamApps\common\blacklightretribution\Blacklight Retribution\Live\Binaries\Win32

The Steam\Steamapps....\Win32 is the main part. Once you find that folder delete the "pb" folder and voila, pb should no longer run when playing BL:R and should stop any further issues.

EDIT 2: Should probably mention about the game itself lol. Find it both fun and frustrating at time, I tend to suck at PC FPS games, have got better though. Loving the amount of customization you get in regards to the guns. Takes a bit of time to permanently unlock the parts you really want but its a F2P game so its to be expected.

Punkbuster is a rather well known, well developed program so you can probably ask the people on its forums.

As an aside, what do you guys currently use?

My stuff (mostly perm) at the moment:

Loadout one is a Bullpup Full-Auto, holographic sights and recoil/spread reduction upgrades (which means slightly less damage in this case), which has a 0.15 second aim time, one of the lowest in the game... and a revolver with the basic 3x scope, used mostly for mid-ranged sniping, which the BPFA's holographic is horrible at. You'd be surprised how good the revolver is at mid-ranged sniping, which is all you need all but the largest of maps (like Seaport). The BPFA itself is a short-ranged powerhouse, and I have the default stock and a quick-reload magazine to reduce its main drawback (its reload time is 2.1 seconds instead of the BPFA's usual 3.2 reload).

Loadout 2 is a Bolt-Action Rifle, a "quick brilliant mercenary" I believe, which has excellent range and absolutely no spread but has only 172 damage, meaning I need a headshot for a one hit kill (but since BARs over 182 damage have spread even while aiming down scopes, I consider this an acceptable exchange for the boost in range). It is accompanied by a shotgun, which has an extended range barrel, an extra grip, a drum magazine, and the same holographic sights as my BPFA. The shotgun is more than capable of one hit kills at up to five or so meters, and is more than capable of killing out to probably fifteen with multiple shots (and the grip increases fire rate as well as accuracy).

My armor is a mishmash of heavy and light armor, mostly just what looks good. Have 209 hp and slightly less stamina and run speed than normal, with decent HVR time and recharge. I make use of "ocean fury" camo because it's the only blue camo that can be purchased with GP, and my equipment loadout is usually pretty plain (grenade, HVR disruption, knife, whatever backpack that the mission chance packis have given me access to). I use mostly just the standard fare for my depot gear.

what I use is very close to you, an SMG with 3x scope but very high hip accuracy so I mainly hip-fire. a revolver with a 12x scope for sniping, both faster firing and more damage then a combat rifle!

a bolt action with low scope and burst fire for my other class.

I use the cloak (got it in a mission pack for 7 days) and its very OP its infinite so you can sprint around the map, go behind someone and stalk them till there a lone and BOOM there dead and they don't even know it. I've gotten 12+ streaks purely from doing that. I only use a knife and nade for gear and don't care about the depot stuff.
