New DoC book. It explodes if you kill a model. But it doesn't say it's removed from play. I assume it isn't removed from play, otherwise it would be kinda sucky.
You can swap your sucky Daemonic Gift for a "magic weapon" from the BRB. Does that literally mean a magic weapon? I.e., only the first box of all magic items? That's not many options. Though it also says they follow the rules for magic items, specifically Enchanted Items and they can carry more than one of each type. That kind of implies they could have 2 arcane items (or such). Otherwise they could just say they can have more than one magic weapon and have to choose at start of combat. And unless I'm missing something, what specific rules for Enchated Items are there?
Lastly, I take it they are just magic items now. If you take an actual 0 roll, any ability that destroys magic weapons, sees them, negates them, applies to that item. ?

That is pretty limited and for the greater gift you'll likely "waste" a few points because of the lack of 50 point items though there are some decent items to grab depending on what you're looking for. I have no idea why they mentioned enchanted items. Theres no possible way for a daemon to get more than one. I guess the reason is because the only other magic item daemons can take besides magic weapons are enchanted items (Hellforged Artifacts) DukeRustfield wrote:Lastly, I take it they are just magic items now. The way I am reading the rule is the model explodes and everything around IT within D6" (including the bearer and any units (friend or foe)) takes a S5 hit. It's a gift I am definitely looking at using.

Why? I guess you could make a suicide Herald and beat on something. But it only works on Characters/Monsters. So you could do it in a challenge and basically put half a template on his unit and take out a bunch of guys. But it would also kill the Herald or close. And Str 5 isn't anything for a DP or LoC to sniff at either.
There's better monster/Hero hunting abilities. If you can get multi attacks or multi wounds (2) or any of the heal yourself stuff, that's really good on a combat hero. A bloodthirster with 2 wounds per hit is just sick.

I never said it was a good thing. But c'mon, making things blow up is fun and yes there can b e A LOT of collateral damage.
