Official Season 3 Trailer below...

Can I request that spoilers for any season be placed in the usual boxes. Please don't assume that everyone has read the books and/or watched up to the point that you have.

I'll restrict myself to saying that Khaleesi is beginning to look more bad ass and Joffrey still needs someone to give him a swift hard kick in his underused genital area.

While I'm not going to drop spoilers, I would like to mention that at some point I think we should stop pandering to people who haven't read a book which was released 17 years ago. I mean, if the whole thread has spoiler tags in every post - which is what tends to happen with this kinds of things - then all it does is annoy the people actually trying to read them in the name of "protecting" people who, if they didn't want stuff spoiler, should simply not read the thread. FFS, there is a dragon in the trailer which is technically a spoiler to anyone who hasn't finished reading book one.

My 2 cents, put a spoiler warning in the OP's title and let that serve as adequate notice.

I get where you're coming from, but GoT the TV series is far more accessible than the books IMHO. I'm perfectly capable of reading them, it's just that I've enjoyed watching it a lot more. Having watched Season 1, I got 3/4 of the way through the first book and decided that I wasn't really learning anything new. I'm kind of surprised it got adapted for TV in the first place, because it comes across quite dry on the page. For this reason, I'm wary of spoilers, because I get such a kick out of the twists as they happen in the TV show.

I've added "probable spoilers" to the thread title though

7 things I'm most looking forward to this season;

1) 4 weddings and plenty of funerals!

2) Tyrion!

3) More epic-burny dragon goodness. (with a side helping of Unsullied)

4) Olenna Tyrell, the Queen of Thorns.

5) Jon Snow's story arc and what Mance is *really* upto

6) Jeoffry being, well, Jeoffry!

7)
Spoiler:
Seeing if Tywin Lannister really does gak gold!

Okay, that one isn't likely at all to happen this season, since this is only the first half of A Storm of Swords...
So really, I'd make this one Arya's storyline which goes to some pretty good places!

Can't wait for the Brotherhood Without Banners arc to finally start.

Oh and I love the song they got for the trailer.

I'm really hoping they show a lot of the dragons in this season. Rumors on the internets has it that they couldn't show them very much previously because of budget problems - I'm not sure that's a problem that can be fixed. Simply put, HBO is not Peter Jackson raising a one-time LOTR funding pile.

I remain hopeful, though. Besides, they knew from the beginning about this challenge, I'm sure they would not have picked up the series if they didn't have a solution. I just hope, you know, "barely ever show them" wasn't the solution.

I was never a great fan of Iain Glenn until Game of Thrones. I blame the first Tomb Raider movie (hmm... with Ciaran Hinds making his bow in Season 3, both Tomb Raider villains are now present in GoT... but I digress). However, aside from Peter Dinklage/Tyrion, he's playing my favourite GoT character. Given that Daenerys leans on him so much, I'm guessing he'll get killed off at some stage to remove her psycological rock.

Wishing I was back at the South Atlantic, closer to ice than the sun

I just want to see something that was left out of the first season, (Or if it was in there I completly missed it) Please, someone tell Sansa thats she's the one responsible for all the Stark death at Kings Landing including her fathers death.

The character is really annoying for my tastes.

Cheers

Andrew

As someone that has read the first book, disliked it and put the series down since. I am watching season 1 right now to watch season 2, and will probably watch season 3 if I enjoy the show far more than the books. Based on what I know about the show in relation to the books (i.e. who may or may not die, etc...) Idk if Peter Dinklage can hold my attention for that long. Though I am enjoying the Khaleesi far more than I did in the first book, so she might hold my attention as well. I like the added (Possible Spoilers), and was going to suggest that any show spoilers be spoiled, and book spoilers be damned. Granted coming into this thread at work, I still don't know that there is a dragon in the trailer, so... ya thanks for "spoiling" that one for me .

I blame Anglena and the script itself for how bad Tomb Raider was... Iain Glen was awsomesauce in the 3rd Res Evil as he pulled off cliche epicly without it being hammy as all hell!

Anyways, alot of the hate for Dany in the 5th book comes from what happens with Ser Jorah...

(seriously, only click this if you really want to know and can't wait for season 4!!!)
Spoiler:
He wades through waist deep crap in a sewer, wins a city, then gets banished by an angry dragon-queen for professing his love for her. Just another crappy Thursday in the life of Ser Jorah!

Without commenting on that last sentence there (someone else already did), I agree whole-heartedly. Iain Glenn, an actor who I had never before seen, is absolutely crushing it as Ser Jorah. Same goes for Liam Cunningham as Davos Seaworth.

Liam Cunningham was also pretty epic in Clash of the Titans as the smart@$$ Argosian hardened vet!

Ah, sounds like Ser Jorah's card is marked. Not going to click on the spoiler though However, it's good to hear that he should make it through Season 3.

One thing I don't mind being spoiled...

Spoiler:
...is Davos dead? I'm up to the end of Season 2 and his getting blown up seems like a waste of a decent character. I get that plot armour doesn't function in GoT, but his character arc didn't seem complete

I'm pretty sure #7 will be in the next season, and the wedding at the twins is the season ending cliff hanger

Currently debating whether to study for my exams or paint some Deathwing

Nope, he's not. At least as of the end of the 5th book...

On thing I have noticed about Martin is;
a) The actual "good" guys tend to have horrific endings
b) He really loves to play the 'faked-you-out death card'... ALOT!

I guess that's two things, but who's counting?!

 Hlaine Larkin mk2 wrote:

I'm thinking it will go like so;

a) Episode #9 is titled "The Rains of Castamere"
Spoiler:
Likely to be the infamous Red Wedding!
My bet is this episode ends with Aryia racing towards the gatehouse, Sandor riding up behind her, she turns, and you see his axe coming forwards then blank screen!

b) Episode #10 is titled "Mhysa"
Spoiler:
My prediciton is we see Jon getting into trouble at The Wall. Dany's story ending as she's marching on/maybe even encamped around Mereen. Jeoffry's wedding ending with Tyrion being thrown into the Black Cells for a crime he didn't commit!
I'm thinking the final scene of this season might be a sort of mirroring of Tyrion now in Ned Stark's position.

Oh, and Mr.Martin himself has decreed that he will be outright abandoning society as whole and seeking reffuge in some small, all but forgotten corner of the planet prior to the airing of a certain episode, in order to avoid the giant internet gak-storm that he knows will follow!
