I Tank Shock a unit manning a Gun Emplacement and end my move square on top of it. Can it fire at my vehicle, and if so what armor does it hit?

Does a Grey Knight Rhino with Psybolts fire the Quadgun at strength 8?

We aren't given any specific rules for resolving shots from below, so following normal rules as per page 73, you have to work out what facing the shot is coming from by splitting the vehicle into quarters from a top-down view. This should only be difficult to do if the gun is pointing straight up so that the vehicle is balancing smack bang in the middle of it - which would be an entertaining sight, mind.

Depends on the wording in the Codex. Silly as it sounds, if it states the model resolves all its shots using the rule then you get the bonus. If there's any mention of specific weaponry (like for Sternguard's special ammo) you'd use the Quadgun's normal profile.

The Quad-gun is a quad-gun and not called an autocannon, so no. (See the wording for the ammo in Codex: Grey Knights, p. 62.)

The +1 S only applies to shots fired by bolt pistol, bolgun, storm bolter, heavy bolter, hurricane bolter, autocannon, or assault cannon.

Also how did you manage to balance a rhino on top of a quad gun?

Page 11, wobbly models. You can legally move the Rhino into that position, so you can place it next to the gun and count it as being there.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Why, the Quad gun is just a piece of terrain, it is not listed as impassible, just battlefield debris.

Though your opponent and yourself can call it impassible if you wish, that would probably be the best way to play it.

Or treat the gun as a model and resolve the DoG. If the tank isnt destroyed then the gun is crushed.

Except the Gun Emplacement is terrain and not a model.

That that doesnt move when tank shocked instantly dies tough, so the quad gun would be destroyed.

Making up our own rules is fun.

But it's still terrain.

True.

You can not Tank Shock Terrain.

mhm it counts for units doesnt it? and to get to base with the quad when theres a tank ontop of it how would they manage that?

from the rulebook.

If some enemy models in the enemy unit would end up underneath the vehicle when it reaches its final position (it makes no difference whether the unit is falling back or not), these models must be moved out of the way by the shortest distance, leaving at least 1" between them and the vehicle whilst maintaining unit coherency and staying on the board. Any models that cannot manage this are crushed and removed the play as casualties. Crunch!

and the quad gun is a model right? it has its own statsline etc.

The Quad Gun is terrain.

It is not a model as models have a unit type.

"In addition to its characteristics profile, each model will have a unit type," P.3

A Quad gun does not have a unit type.

A Quad Gun is Battlefield Debris. (Page 105 for Gun Emplacement. P.104 has the heading of the section which is Battlefield Debris).

good to know, thanks.

but if other models with a unit type would suffer this due... lets say impassible terrain on a side and cant move 1 inch away they still get crushed aigth?

Yea, but that is an almost impossible situation to pull off.

Usually it involves an enemy unit encircling your unit and a skimmer tank performing a tank shock on your unit that has been surrounded.

Wait a sec....

The QG is terrain. - Agree.

If you tank shock an enemy off of it and you end up squarely on top of it, the enemy cannot fire it because they have to be in base to base contact do they not?

Similarly a vehicle cannot fire the QG. So no shooting that turn IMHO.

Now, this question is of particular importance to me because I play mechanized Orks. I have frequently tank shocked (deff rolled) infantry manning QGs and ADLs. The way I worked it was resolving a deffrolla against it and the unit D6 S10 auto hits. Often, I'd destroy the gun. Every time I would end up on top of it. We'd place a marker and when (if) the battle wagon moved on, the gun would be replaced. That correct?

Only if the enemy unit is not in base contact with the gun anymore. It is possible, since you move the vehicle on top of the gun, that there will be room for the model to stay in base contact, as long as it does not fall back.

It is probably best to treat the gun as impassible terrain, it causes the least issues.

Is the vehicle no longer a model?

The Gun Emplacement rules say that a model in base contact with the gun can fire it. A vehicle is a model.

However if your vehicle is on top of the gun you are going to have serious Line of Sight issues.

Not sure you can deffrolla a Gun Emplacement as it is terrain. you are given allowance to shoot it or assault it, but no allowance to Tank Shock the Gun Emplacement (Which is Battlefield Debris).

Right. You can't tank shock the gun; you only have permission to shoot or attack it in close combat. There's no legal way for the Deffrolla to inflict any hits on it.
