Thanks a lot guys, both for the comments and the slap stick, much appreciated

The plan with regards to red and these servitors, was to paint parts of their helmets as well as the armour red. I want red on these. The way I see the difference between these and the menials, is the menials are bread for working - some even bread the natural way - oh the horror!!!!!
The murder servitors however, are constructs - someones pet project, and hence entitled to a dab of red. For the lenses on the helmets I was thinking glossy black. Most of the larger minis feature a bright green as spotcolor, and the plan was to carry that over onto the servitors as well.

With regards to bases, well I'm really on the same page - bases are great for both tying an army together, But also making less cool minis - better looking minis. The will be several tracked units iin the army, and to be honest I was not sure how the Preatorians would look if based - too bulky, perhaps? So I decided against it, but that will go into reconsideration, once I finish more of the tracked units and get a fell for the need to base them, with regards to the overall look.

Again a good link with some cool minis. Very distinct style - I even have some of the Iron brotherhood or what their name is.

"Master"...hmmm, I can live with that - does have a ring to it.

A small painting update. Skin is done now - added more highlights and some red and purple washes, to add some depth.

Finished the skin and painted up the red areas. Though it's still very unfinished it does give quite a good impression of how they will look finished.

I like the fact that even adding the red you have still managed to keep the grimness, I hope you don't add any white though as personally it would lighten the scheme which would be a shame.

The flesh tone is quite a creation in its self as it has quite a dull tone but still looks functioning, by this I mean most conversions of this nature have an almost deceased skin tone which you have seemed to avoided.

They have turned out looking great a real achievement of which I am jealous

Thanks guys.

I have worked quite a bit on the reds and it's not quite as grimy any longer. I'm sure that will change one I start to add weathering and battledamage, so that's not a bit concern on my behalf - that's normally wjat happens anyway, and it's the same red as on all the previous models. I think you are right about not adding any white/creamy colors to the armour that could breal up the look of these ones. Perhaps black or grey cogpattern could be used, or perhaps I should completely drop it and just go with checkers for these ones.

They're looking great! 'd try the checkers, as I think it will break up the model nicely without detracting from the model as a whole.

Thanks guys.

Not really much of an update, as it has been mostly touch ups and adding details and spotcolor since the last photos. Really getting close to finishing now.
I've been going over and over the issue with checkers and cogpattern, and I think I've come to the conclusion of not adding either, doesn't really fit the minis anyway I think. My only concern are the flat red areas - I'm hoping some battle damage will take care of that though.

I think the colour detail lifts the models nicely without over powering it, great conversions with a great colour pallet

Regarding the new FW minis, I'm not really sure - the automatron looks rather useful, I guess I have to see the Magus painted up before I decide what to think.

Finally done with the Murder Servitors. Actually I was yesterday but I had a really hard time taking good pics, something about the skin color and the metals, makes it hard for the camera to "see" i guess. Any way in all their killing glory here is:

JUST FANTASTIC

I love the touch of green just catches your eye and really draws you in to the model, the red is spot on not to bright but not to dim just perfect.

Love the little touches like the hazard stripe wire and the small cheque section on the shoulder pad, nice touch and ties them in nicely with the rest ( you thought we missed that didn't you )

I love the skin tone cant get over how well it works, the grey with a hint of purple under the fleshy tone is great, and I love the skin colouring around the fleshy areas and the mechanical whips .

Amazing work so far. The conversions and paint-job are perfect.

Any chance you can provide more details on how you achieved you skins tones??

Thanks guys, really means a lot you like them.
@ldd: wasn't sure anyone would notice those checkers no To be honest I'm really happy wit the way they turned out my self. I really like adding all those little details. Not sure it's really visible on the battlefield, but as my main thing is modelling and painting I just don't feel a mini is finished until I've given it all I can.

@galgaroth: the skin color, let me see - not sure I could make it again my self to be honest.
basecoat of dark flesh, then a mix of a skincolor/purple/grey, next layer adding skincolor to the mix, then shading with blue and purple washes, then more skin color to the previous mix. Then I switched to a brighter skincolor mixed with grey and added a couple of layers of that with more and more skin color mixed in. Finally I used the skincolor it self but watered down. Then I used ogryn flesh wash to add some pinkness to selected areas, as well as purple and red washed around the skin/metal fusions.
I thnk that's as close as I can get.

Love the pieces and the scenery. If I would make a suggestion, you should make a board to match the scenery if you are planning on playing with the pieces. Awesome painting.

@Razak: Thanks a lot. Actually both my gamingboard(tablecloth) modular terrain and terrain pieces all match each other, as well as the bases on the minis, so I'm pretty much covered there.

@ldd: A dust vehicle it is, some sort of american light walker if I remember correctly. The grey bits are from the GW dreadknight. I think the larger one is one of the legguards - the other one I have no idea what is.
