Still trolling the forums, still trying to decide on a faction. Questions:

Any chance Roland could gain a "Homeland" rule that would allow him to be taken in a Vandalands army, kind of like how some of the Mercs work?
Obviously you need to get all of the units in the rulebook out first, but I read that you are planning faction books at some point. Knights Bubonic factor heavily into the Vandalands background, any chance we'll eventually see a unit representation of them?

Currently I'm trying to decide between Axony, Ribenguo, or Vandalands. At this point picking Axony would be solely for Roland, so that doesn't seem like the best idea. I like melee centric armies, and Ribengou and Vandalands fit the bill for that (though Ribenguo has plenty of ranged options too). I also love knights so Vandalands would seem to be the perfect choice for me, BUT the only "knights" currently fieldable would be the Hedge Knight hero and Jacques Martinesque. Also, samurai. Samurai are the knights of Japan.

Any help?

I personally prefer to run Ribenguo as a Shooty army, hordes of Ashigaru lead by a Daimyo, and a few Samurai running around playing clean up along with the Wanderers.

If you want a truly dedicated Melee army that would be Vandalands or Zabar.

As for the Knights Bubonic... Jacques is the Marshal of the Order.

If I read my copy of the rulebook correctly, it says you're supposed to choose Axony and only Axony because Axony is cool. >.>

O.o That's actually an outdated copy.. We put in the other factions, but they're all still technically Axony... as we have Axony, Axony-Aquitar, Axony-Chugoku, etc...

If you're only interest in Axony is Roland, I'd say wait for his mini, and use it as a hero/exemplar for your preferred faction. Not using his rules, but simply the model. There are other armored swordsmen units out there, the Warlord for Vandals, or the Conquistador for Civitas, etc. So you could easily use him for those (once we've got the model out).

Other than Jacques, the Knights Bubonic will be a while (lots of big heavy stuff, logistics require a slow roll out.)

As far as Army choices go, Vandals and Zabar are the major melee factions. Both have cheap melee units with shields and reach weapons (giving them a better charge, and two attack with an armor boost): The Rat Raiders, and the War-Hogs. Vandals would be the way to lean if you prefer a more medieval theme, but the resin models for Zabar are great, and have a little more flexibility with a ranged focused hero, and the support abilities of the Hyenas.

Matt, that's brilliant. I hadn't considered that before. Nothing is jumping out at me right now but I will certainly keep that in mind. Maybe he would make a cool "sergeant" model for a unit.

In regards to Bubonic Knights, figured brand new units might be a ways off since you would want to get models for all the units in the core book first, but I would sure be kicking myself if I went with another faction and that unit came out and blew me away. Sometimes you have to play the long view.

And now for a question I'm sure you hear daily (about different models): any chance the Hedge Knight is anytime in the near future?

I just noticed that Jacques doesn't have a squad listed in his profile but his rules refer to "his squad." Is that just standardization of rule text or is there something missing?

And if it's not blatantly obvious, I'm definitely leaning towards Vandalands.

Finishing off Vandalands' current units is planned for this year. But I do not have a solid timeframe for that.
