Nice!

I'm hoping got the $87k one. Don't quite think that is going to happen

Less than $900 away from the next streatch goal!

If they can get to $80k by the end of the week then it's the free Unit Commander's stretch goal.

Kicktraq has them set at ending around 80k, which ain't bad. I'd love to see them get a nice surge in the last 48hrs.

Since Kicktraq doesn't seem to be able to accurate gauge the 'End of Campaign' surge - you'll probably get your wish!

That's true. I'm sure they'd have to have access to how many people have starred the project, to even begin to gauge it, which I'm sure they don't.

Does anyone remember how much they needed to get Drake funded when it was on Indiegogo last year? I know it was a decent amount more than the 10k they needed this time.

Anyone else think that they intended not to get anyone to do the $500+ pledges?

Why do you think that?

I rather doubt that was their intent, but it feels kind of like the rules were either an afterthought or haven't received nearly the attention that the models have: I look at the concept of the game (armies lead by dragons!) and my heart goes aflutter, then I read the quickstart rules and I go "eh". Part of it is not knowing "important" information not covered in the quickstarter (rules for infantry units? Average game size?), the other is wondering if some of the stuff was given much thought (the dice mechanic when--if the cards in the quickstart sheet are any indication--some units can be nearly as large as a full unit of Ork boyz).

I want to love it (and am waffling on contributing), but it doesn't feel like the rules are quite there.

Up until their non-tangible product pledges, the pledge to product level is very reasonable.

Then when you hit the non-tangible property pledges, prices double or triple, and in the case of the painted army pledge, you are paying $1,200 for up to 8 painted minis and that's it. Who would go for that when you can pay $240, get the Ultimate collection, and then pay $500 or less to get a full faction painted up by someone?

The $1.5k, $3k, & $5k levels all include the Ultimate+ Stretch goals & some extra goodies, but when you compare it to just the Ultimate, you are paying 6x, 12x, or 20x the price for a product that is only roughly twice as much. I get it that they need to make a profit and are doing this for funding, but the player's do not know the world and have not used the rule system. Moreover, it is always an assisted design. They never give you full rights or final say or, even if you get a real say on the design. It is a huge gamble on the pledge’s part. Maybe you can pick what weapon the model has, maybe you get to pick its gender. Who knows what they will actually let you decide.

I think they are relying on people wanting to be a part of their game by assisting in designing a product but the desire just is not there. If GW said, pay us $5k and you can help design a new model and rules in the next codex then they would get people to pay in a minute. However, these people just do not have the clout., and they have to know it because this isn’t their first stab at funding.

I disagree.

I think getting your own ideas implemented into a game system this early out, and with such a small company, offers MORE opportunities for them to actually listen to you. By dropping that much money you are actually contributing a sizable amount of backing to the project, and would be allowed input. Now, I could see them putting a few restrictions on your choices though, and those would primarily be that anything you create has to fall 'somewhat' into the style/vibe of the world which has already been created. If you said "I want the dragon to be Falcor from neverending story, and all his troops are batman and spiderman characters!" obviously the couldn't do that for legal reasons. But similarly, if you came in and said, "I want the dragon to look like a fat kitten that floats in the air, with a little bow in it's hair, and all it's minions are 1930's business men in suits with briefcases!" that wouldn't really work either.

I think the restrictions would be something along these lines
-here's what we have in the world, which has already been established, can you think of anything to add to them?
-here's what 'we' think another faction/character/card which would work well in the world would be, can you think of something like this?
-These are the other lands of the world we've created. Which one would your new faction/character/card be from?

Essentially, they can't let you break the game with your contribution, but you could still have a profound impact on the background story, and the game itself.

GW on the other hand, you're right, they would sell out those options in 5 min. But they would probably be the ones to say, "No you can't bring back the Chaos Dwarves, and no we don't want fish people! Here, we've already got the designs for this other army, you can just name some of the smaller special characters.".

I've pledged at 240 level, which is more than I thought I would, but these miniatures are some of my favorite looking miniatures ever. Something about them just sucks me in, so I had to do 240. Damn you kickstarter.

YES!

Drake is shipping out first wave currently to all backers.

I have to say the metal models are fantastic with detailing and the bigger dragons look great as well! I'll write a more detailed summary at some stage with photos and the like (I just sort of have to find my desk - I lost it under a pile of stuff).
