Could this be used by a CSM player to infiltrate D3 Chaos Daemon allied units? I'm thinking I missed something somewhere about warlord traits only affecting the primary detachment but I don't remember where I saw it.

They sure can. The Ally rules specify that Allies of Convenience can't benefit from the Warlord trait. Battle Brothers are fair game.

Infiltrating Furies and Daemonettes, ahoy!

Oooh, good to know :-)

Also, could you (assuming you roll a 5/6) give it to three independent characters and can they then infiltrate when joined to 3 other units?
eg Lord gives it to his chosen, sorceror to another unit, and an allied battle brother IC and his unit?

I think the answer is yes but it sounds a lot.

Technically no. Because of the way Infiltrators deploy and the way ICs join units at deployment an IC can never "give" Infiltrate to a unit.

Wow, I will have to paint up my Huron Blackheart and give this a try. Too bad it's only for Infantry units. Infiltrating Horrors with all the Flickering Fire might be fun too.

Looking at the USR, units with at least 1 infiltrator deploy as infiltrators. IC's without Infiltrate cannot join units that do.

However, there's no mention of IC's not conferring Infiltrate to a unit at deployment time (which they could well do, can't they? --- Edit: Just read the IC rule, looks like you can! So give it to your characters and drag a unit along with them)

So you could deploy Huron and a unit of Chosen 18" away from the enemy.

Infiltrators deploy last. So either the IC and the unit have Infiltrate and deploy together, or one is deployed first, and the other is deployed later. In order for am IC to join a unit at deployment, he must deploy within 2" of the unit.

In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I see, thanks Happyjew.

However, "An Independent Character can begin the game already with a unit, either by being deployed in unit coherency with it or, if the unit is in reserve) by informing your opponent of which unit it has joined."

So, you could make Huron an Infiltrator, have him join the Chosen in reserve, and outflank.

Outflank you can do, as the unit is "deployed" into reserves.
