I hate that snake more than anyone else in the WH40k universe. For his self importance (delusions of grandeur), backstabbery, slipperiness and manipulative behaviour. I want him to die in so many indescribable ways.

If you had a choice how would you rid the universe of this pest?

Disclaimer: I have no love for nor play Ultra Marines, but from reading all the HH books my hate for this character knows no limits.

He should be overcome by the very Chaos forces he is trying to utilize. A fitting end for one who dabbles in Daemonmancy so much.

Yes, some kind of ironic and eternal torture at the hands of unforgiving gods would be ideal.

He shouldn't die because this is the grim darkness of the far future.

Nothing should kill Erebus! More of the same from him. In fact, scratch that. More from Erebus... that is even worse. If we have here a character that you truly hate, then that's a good character for a rich storyline.

Kharne thoroughly thrashes him in Betrayer, but does not get the pleasure of getting the killing blow as Erebus does something to escape his fate in the end (probably kills himself to reappear some place else, much like the way he transported himself from Calth to Lorgan's flagship).

Spawndom would be a suitable fate, although only if he would still be aware of how impotent he would be in that state.

Erebus is still alive and kicking in the 41st millennium.

Kor Phaeron is much better than Erebus in the twirling mustache department, he's not been made the Dark Pope for nothing

If I could weigh in here, I really think that Erebus is a character worth keeping. I'm actually quite curious as to why you guys hate him.

I see him as the 40k version of Malus Darkblade in some ways. Malus was such a devious double-faced underhanded villain, but everyone likes him.

The only thing I really hate about Erebus is that he is still alive in the 41st millenium. For being one of the first people to actually start using chaos, and not fully understanding it at first, he should have died a terrible, terrible death via some minor mispronounciation of a chant, or a microscopically-small misalignment of Summoning Circle symbols.

---And on the topic of Fabius, I really, really like how he was portrayed in Let the Galaxy Burn. I just loved it. He was evil, sure, but he was kickass at being evil.

The topic states he must die, you state he did in Betrayer. You are wrong.

Also, your statement that someone would like to have a chat with him again implies present tense, where Kharns' armor is red.

Wh40k's black-and-grey morality often allows me to empathize with and even take pity on the enemy de jour. Not with Erebus. I hate that spawn of the Warp with a passion.

That said, I don't want him removed. Veritable monsters whose evil goes beyond merely differing points of view, such as Erebus or Fabius Bile (another of my favorite villains of 40k who, supposedly, was found so twisted and repugnant by the Black Library crowd that he was nearly written off in one of McNeill's novels - only to be saved "in extremis" by executive intervention) make the 40k universe better (or worse in a good way) with their presence alone.

Thank God Fabius Bile wasn't written around, what an awesome dude.
