I did not see it in other posts if it is I appologize
Does anyone know dimensions or how to model the Chaos Portaglyph. I would like to use it, but am unsure how to model it. Was thinking of a terminator base and make something out of wire and green stuff that stood at tall as a termi roughly.
Anyone have any specs on it I did not find it in the codex. Thanks.

I'd go bigger, Dreadnought base. Since there is no official size it could be on a infantry base or a flyerbase. It's up to you to model it how you think it should be.

Personally I'd go with dreadnought base. Feels like the right size portal for a handful of daemons to jump through. Just my 2cents.

I need to return some video tapes.

I agree. Paint up a 60mm base with some cool ruins and stuff and go to town.

Thanks guys I appreciate it. Am thinking of using it for Adepticon and did not want anyone crying foul if there was some standard I was supposed to be using. Cheers and thanks again.

RAW, it could be the size of a crumb, or the size of a watermelon. Since it has no standard size or official model.

But, if you want people to like you, and take you seriously, 60mm is pretty much perfect.

That works. A 40mm base would be ok too in all honesty, if it was modeled vertically like this one.

It's basically just about logic. Could a standard troop-sized daemon walk out of the portal? If yes, it's fine, if no, it's too small.

Just found it, its a Malifaux mini called the dreamer (neverborns) its around 22GBP from independent retailers, a little more then I would spend tbh

Think both pics I posted are the same model (metal by the way on 50mm base) just front and back

Umm...that is wrong...

And I have no idea how this is even a question...

Read Portalglyph - it SPECIFICALLY states to place a blast marker (or something the size of a blast marker). So the only true way to model it is get an extra blast marker (or something that specific size - including depth) and paint it however you want. Using anything, RAW or otherwise, would be 'wrong' technically...

Honestly - just take a blast marker size thing, paint it pretty, use that. You can trace the marker and such in like platicard or whatnot...

Anything smaller around then a blast marker is MFA, anything thicker than the blast marker is giving your opponent an advantage....

And really, it is a 50% chance per turn to get items, that can be destroyed, that you are paying 50 pts for (and giving up other goodies for)....

Oh really? Fair point, my bad, took a look and you are right. That's much better than normal for GW, usually they leave it so vague that people can abuse it

I've been working on one myself. Using the lid from a small plastic container and a left over rider Daemonette from the chariot kit.

Since the only limit is the size of it, you're pretty free to go with whatever really. Then I guess you can either go generic portal, or god specific and have something nice to go with your army.

It's still strange they gave it an AV and hull points. Hiding a paper cutout the size of a blast marker won't be very hard.

Missed opportunity to release a model too.

I used this when I played. (The one on the right).

It's public terrain at my FLGS, so I doubt you're willing to shell out 40 bucks for one little thing, but you may be able to get a good deal on ebay or similar.

That is pretty f'ing sweeeet but yeah 40 bucks I don't think so. But plasticard, some green stuff, some water resin maybe a dude coming out of it and it will be pretty cool. Once again thank you all so much for the great posts, great ideas everyone... wow

I just finished modeling my portaglyph

It's not quite as big in diameter as a small blast marker, but it's close. And i decided to model it so that it's standing up, as the rule of cool made me do it. If i'm giving my opponent some advantage by doing so, so be it. I'd imagine a warp rift is not on the ground, but in the air vertically. Now i just need to paint it

Cool idea, might I suggest you make the very outer rim super sharp and bright, and make the disc a very deep colour, it'll help it look like a hole burnt into the air.

Actually i decided to paint the thing turqoise from behind with a bit of turqoise spilling onto the front side. Then paint the front with deepening red to the core. The tentacles and head will be pinkish, with some red OSL. Well that's the plan at least.

I'd treat it as about the same size as the DE WWP.

Same purpose, after all.

About small blast marker size.

I'll be cobbling one up for my Nurgle daemons at some point..

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Nice work, but it is not similar sized to a Blast Marker.

Im doing something like this:

It's a swirl of purple paint, to which i've added pink and then white (while still wet) and swirled it all together, getting pinker and whiter towards the center. Then i put down a layer of CLEAR silicone caulk, and again gave that a swirly texture.

This could easily be painted onto a 40 or 60mm base too...although that may cause LOS issues, since the Portalglyph would be really hard to see...

Thanks for the ideas guys!, I have just started my one, using the base from a tzeentch chariot, the one with the herald one (I built the exalted flaming one otherwise I would have used the flames for the portalglpyh), glued the base to the disc and cut down the back of the disc, so the disc is the portalglpyh and the arm things are coming out of the disc, threw some horror's arms in there, now I need to pin the bottom onto a base and voila, a portalglpyh, will try and get some pics up soon
