As the title says.

If i have a twin-linked plasma cannon do i re-roll the gets hot ?

gets hot gets re-rolled when you roll for a plasmagun, so I personally don't see why the plasma cannon would be any different since the whole point is for you to have a second chance at the weapon shooting successfully.

I don't play SM tin cans so I have no idea on their rules, I had no idea what rules, other then gets hot, the weapon had so didn't want to make any assumptions.

He could have. But instead, he encouraged you to, you know, read the rules, instead of wasting space on this forum. Especially for something that is clearly spelled out in the book.

This. and if ever comes up in a game, you can show your opponent right where it is, instead of saying "Some guy on a forum said so.".

Aye, this. The few really serious rules disagreements we've had in my group weren't solved by some random guy on a forum saying so. Nor were they solved by GW/FLGS employees (those are usually wrong about anything you bother to ask them). Page numbers and FAQs is what works.

This!! very important, a few times I have read a bat rep of glanced over threads and picked up rule issues and then remembered then during a game, opponent asked to see the rules so spent time reading the BRB trying to find where it was and sometimes I have not but found it later or after asking on here, it is very important to know where the particular rules are. Exalted as well HJ
