As far as I can tell its the same as the frence version, was so excited for this at first, might as well just wait for the retail release. (its funded anyway)

And that's huge, and certainly the only way I'd even think about getting into this game.

Plus, I think my wife and daughters will like it as well, and that's a huge bonus too!

Just make sure you don't express those concerns in the KS forum. The fanboy beat down is in full effect. Lots of the folks don't seem to understand that the more people they can get in a lower tiers the larger the player base becomes. I read it, and I can help but think those folks would be just fine of the $500 option was the only option. I even got called "cheap" for being unwilling to plunk down $500.

Yikes.

Unwilling...how about unable? $500 is most of my rent for the month, and more than all my other bills combined. Sometimes I think that some people dont realize that not everyone has piles of expendable cash. Id go for the $500 Nox pledge real fast if I could afford it.

I keep thinking this as well. Really im mostly interested in it for the miniatures. I may just end up dropping my pledge to the smallest one with the promo mini ($30 I think) and pick up the expansion packs when they come out in retail. Probably find people breaking up the game on Ebay as well, and score the base miniatures there.

Yeah that is a Good call! Takes it from the "definitely not starting a collectible game" to "that game is a real possibility".

In working with Japanime to see if we can get some demos going at adepticon. Anyone interested in that at all?

I would have been amazingly interested... if I were going this year! Keep hearing reasons why I should have...

RTides - Japanime is a bit concerned that adepticon isn't the "right crowd" but I'm pretty convinced that audience would eat this game up. Thoughts?

Right or wrong, a crowd is a crowd imo.

I can't see why the game wouldn't do well at Adepticon

(unless the actuall game element sucks, and from what I've seen so far this IS NOT the case)

maybe they're not keen as they can't get product there to sell ?

Honestly, their real concern talking to them has been the fact that it's prepainted. THe first thing that came to mind for me would be that folks at Adepticon would be all about that, since most of us have way too many Grey Armies to begin with.

Well, they'd be presenting at the same show as a new Super Dungeon Explore expansion and Endless: Fantasy Tactics, so they won't be the only grid-based Anime miniatures game.

Given the above, I don't think the competition is their main concern, Cyp.

And while I love the idea of Endless Fantasy Tactics, it's not really in the same league sales-volume-wise as Super Dungeon Explore!

Annnnnd, this thread is about neither of those, but about Krosmaster Arena

I think Cyp was suggesting that it does fit in with the crowd well.
And yes, as a guy who plays a tonnn of miniature games, the pre-painted-ness of this is part of it's appeal to me.

Its hard for something not yet released to be in the same sales volume as a plastic board game thats been available for a few years now.

I wasn't saying that they shouldn't come because there is competition, I'm saying they should come because similar things have had good success at Adepticon.

I think they'd do VERY well at Adepticon and it would certainly help spike their KS Campaign and eventual sales numbers.

All for the cost of a couple of demo games?

No brainer!

Plus, they might actually get to 5000 (!) Facebook 'likes' by getting a presence at Adepticon...

Well looks like Japanime won't be bringing this to Adepticon, which is a shame. I tried to offer up my help to demo it at night, but they don't seem to want to come unless they can also be in the dealer hall, which I just dont have the time available to man then entire time.

I still think the game looks great, and the online version is quite fun, but I continue to be put off by the stretch goals and treatment of the lower pledge levels. Add-ons only available to $300 backers or more, 100k stretch goals, etc. Its unfortunate that the French company, Ankama, that owns the property is so steadfastly refusing to do away with any ridiculous notions of "exclusivity" for the American market, especially when they've already moved away from a blind-buy model.

I really want to get the game and back the game, but I'm unwilling to pay $500 for it like some of the serious kool aid drinkers in there, and I find it distasteful that some of the series' main characters are only available to those that do. It just feels like a lot with this campaign hasn't been well thought out. I can't help but think that some of these KSes were just thrown together without much thought or planning (Hello Through the Breach), and for me that just doesn't fly.

As it stands, I'm pretty close to dumping my pledge and hopping on something like Heroes of Normandie or Myth.

You've summed it up nicely for me as well.

An easy solution would have been to have Nox and Goultard and even the resin tokens/terrain as a purchaseable add-on - maybe even as high as $20 for the figures and $40 for the terrain?

This would have generated WAY more pledges too, I think.

As it is, this is a Kickstarter that really does feel like a pre-order.

And that's OK.

But I think I'll wait for it to hit retail and pick it up along with the expansions later on.

As you mentioned - Arena Rex, Heroes of Normandie and Myth are a bit more attractive anyway.

I've stopped posting in the KS forum for it simply because the gushy fanboy love and optimism is just too much. And for a game many of them haven't even played, nor have they watched the series. It's quite amazing, to me, honestly.

What's also amazing is some of the 'expectations' of price were some of these items made add ons. The notion that this token pack should be anywhere near $100, as some of them are claiming, is absurdly laughable. I think you're spot on with a $30-40 price point for the terrain pack and/or the token pack, and even that 'feels' a bit high. I think $15 for the individual figures would be much more palatable.

I've tried to explain to the president of Japanime Games my rationale for how I'd price the KS levels, but it seems like his hands are really tied with Ankama's desire for 'exclusive content.' They're really hell bent on keeping some of these items artificially rare. I just dont get that.

I'm guessing most of the people KSing for it don't really play miniature games and they're just guessing at the prices

I just played this game at ACD Games Day earlier today. It was a lot of fun, and beautiful. And the gentleman releasing the game said that the Kickstarter figures will be made available through other means down the line. None of them are Kickstarter-exclusive.

So there's no real reason to back the 500 pledge level?

I've ported these images showing

Soda Pop Super Dungeon Explore and Impact Chibi Adventurer

figures across from the Impact miniatures forum where they were posted by Glen M, just in case anybody was planning to mix the Krossmaster figures with them as they DO NOT scale the same

SDE Rex, Impact! Demon Prince, Krosmaster Arena figure (which is far too large for a character & too small for a boss), SDE Druid, Impact! Thief

Ditto. I backed my pledge down to $15, was $150. It looked cool in the beginning, but its really just not offering enough...Ive found other things that are better uses for the money IMO.

The project just continues to frustrate me. The absolutely have to be guessing at prices, because they have no clue.

They're convinced painting one of these models is harder/more labor intensive than the paint being put on the Dust Tactics Premium models (no way). They're also convinced that the fact that the Krosmaster KS has only 28% of its backers at the "Sweet spot" level (as opposed to say, 82% for Zombicide 2) is a problem. I think it's getting to the point that the fanboy glasses aren't allowing them to even listen to any cogent critiques.

Interestingly, it sounds like JAG just confirmed that all of the promos and tokens are goingto be available to retailers later on..... Need to get some confirmation on that, though, because he kind of beat around the bush when he stated it. More to come.

Compltely agree with you. The $100k Stretch Goals. The add-ons that are ONLY available to the $500 level. If that's really who youre marketing to, don't include the other levels. Seriously.

It is getting easier to drop my pledge...
