I'm looking at ways to build an army based around Gaunt's Ghosts, and I have been looking at Victoria Miniatures Scout Conversion kit from their Border World Rangers (http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/products/border-world-rangers?pagesize=12)

Will this work for Tanith if built over Catachan bodies, or do I need to look elsewhere?

And if anyone knows how to tripod-mount a heavy stubber I'll be very grateful!

The Tanith are described as a light infantry regiment. That means no armor, or sentinels. I think you could cross some Catachan bits together with other bits. Use the victoria bits kinda sparingly. I'd imagine them to be sniper heavy. Though all have the camo cloaks too. Just do a few test versions for what you like and see how it comes out.

I wouldn't even both adding them to Catachans, just get this http://product-images.highwire.com/2870933/rangerscomponents.jpg

They look purpose built to be Tanith 1st

Depending on the period you're modeling them you could also mix some Cadians with those heads etc to make Kolstek 81st and some necromunda minis and some DKoK or greatcoat type models to be Vervunhivers.

Just do me a favor and keep them all from 1 period of the series. No mixing armor in there, or Valkyries in there like every book is happening at once

Also, the original GW ones are horrible looking.

I don't like the old-fashioned lasguns, they just don't seem to work too well. And I wasn't going to mix them up, but I think they do need some support (just tanks, that's it)

I'd get the old GW ones for characters.

This question could generate all kinds of weird s**t, but does anyone know how to make femtroopers?

i prefer the rag tag look of the victorians over the cadians anyway
by the end of gaunts ghost they were royally fuq'd and cadians are way to clean to represent this imo, the victorian models has that gritty, mean look to them

I have seen tutorials posted here using green stuff to make fem-troopers

Chapter house has some good stuff
http://chapterhousestudios.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=77_125&product_id=163

Heres some heads from Brother Vinni's
http://www.brother-vinni.com/gallery/28mm/fem-heads.htm

your best bet may be to buy the heads (do agoogle search for 28mm female heads) and then to green stuff the breast armor.

I don't know if that will work or not, I literally have no idea. I do remember some threads on Tanith conversions using Cadian torsos and arms, and Warhammer Fantasy Wood Elves legs, hooded heads and cloaks. They looked pretty sweet.

Do your armour in Pardus colours. The Tanith worked with Pardus so it's very lore friendly. If you want air you could do them with Phantine colours. Or SMs you can do... white scars? was it?

I still have Tanith on the backburner. I've done some test models with cadians, wood elves and some third party bits which I'm happy with.

I never liked the look of those ones where they used the Wood Elves, but I would use Pardus armor. Or Narmenians.

Clearly I can't speak for your desired outcome, but vic would be my one stop shop for the project you mentioned.
I've always wanted to do Pith helmeted troops. I'm using her bits with GW Cadians, to just her bits.
Good luck!

Wood elves legs and hoods and cloaks, but cadian torso and arms? Really you don't like those? You're the first person I've heard who doesn't like that look.

To each their own, conversions let us make what we want which is great ; ) If you're going to do Pardus colours there's no problem with including a fair bit of armour imo. Doing it as an allied armoured group from imperial armour 1:v2 could make it more realistic.

What I wasn't sure on was doing Tanith as vets or a mix of platoons and vets... probably the latter. I was also planning on ratlings to represent the high sniper numbers or scouts, along with some vet and PCS sniper squads. The rest would be flamer special weapons and missile launcher "tread fethers" for heavies. Sadly las cannons, plasma and melta don't fit the theme. But that's why you have allied Pardus and/or Phantine ; ) Another idea I had to represent the scoutts was a vet squad with heavy bolter and gunnery sergeant harker, with both heavy bolters represented as long las sniper rifles.

Just some ideas to mull over.

Same, I really like the look haha. I was also going to use some wood elf torsos (with a little GS work) to represent some fems since it's a mixed regiment. The waists are so wasplike but that's fixable, and the bow pose arms actually works really well aiming down the sites of a lasgun... again with some GS.
