In the BRB it says vehicles can't take invulnerable saves, yet the helldrake gets one from the daemon rule. What would be the point of giving the drake the daemon rule if you can't utilize the save? Thanks in advance.....

It's still a vehicle. Is this the exception to the rule?

Where is this rule? There's no such thing.

Now, vehicles are only given instructions on how to take Cover Saves, but with the myriad vehicles being given Invulnerables (without guidance on how to take them) as well it's assumed they are taken in the same way.

also that. DA for example can uppgrade their landraiders to have a 4up invul.

you can have veichles ontop of a skyshield landing pad to benefitt of its invul save.

Also, almost every Dark Eldar vehicle has the option to add an invuln save. Where is the rule that says vehicles can't take invuln saves?

The whole "vehicles can't use invuls" is an argument leftover from 5th that I had no idea was still around in 6th.

Regardless, it is generally agreed that vehicles with invulnerable saves get to use them; trying to argue the contrary in a friendly game won't make you any friends, and in a competative game I can't think of any tournament organiser who will not rule against you.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I have the drakes and was told they are denied.

They used page 17 BRB. Invulnerable saves are taken when a model takes wounds. Vehicles have no wounds.

I thought it BS.... but rolled with it.

There is no specific rule that allows vehicles to take invulnerable save.
Bjorn has permission to take an Invuln save against any Glancing or Penntrating hits.
DEldar vehicles with Flickerfields have permission to take Invuln saves against being immobilised from dangerous terrain.

For more information check this thread.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

So if a heldrake gets an invul save, does that mean I could use the divination power to give a vehicle a 4+ invul if its within 12" of the psyker?

If your opponents are trying stuff like this then it's usually a sign that you need to try and find better people to game with.

Vehicles (other than Bjorn) not being allowed to take invul saves is something GW keep neglecting to FAQ (either as a rulebook FAQ to say they can be taken, or as codex specific FAQs addressing the individual models saying they cannot) but is something people will usually ignore in games (I.E. they will let you take your invul).

Someone not allowing you to use your drake's invul smacks of someone who may not just want to win, but may simply want you to lose, since such actions can usually set precedent within gaming groups. If it happens again then you don't really have much you can do except see what your group thinks (don't forget to bring up the myriad other vehicles that have or can have invulnerable saves) or pack up and find another game/leave.

i always found it weird that this was an issue at all. In the futuristic world of the 41st millenium, wouldnt you think that the vehicles would have some incredible shielding that can potentially negate any type of weapon? Least the bigger vehicles i doubt my Trukks would have that lol.
