Good morning, I am One in a Million.

I sport a few armies that I gathered over the years; CSM, IG, Ultramarines, and DA.

I recently got back into the hobby with the new edition and starter box set. I've always been a fan of the starter box sets. Dark Vengeance hit a soft spot as my first army was CSM. But like most first armies, it never lived to its full potential due to amateur painting, modeling, and army lists. The games were rough going. In the end it was nearly a 8,000 point army which I gave up for free. Fortunately they all ended up with my fiance and his BT. Dark Vengeance revived that army as they are pending a total makeover.

Dark Vengeance also gave me an excuse to recreate the DA Chapter. For awhile I was contemplating this as I am a fan of their fluff. And why not? I got the special model with the set. After my first build and paint job, I was hooked. After this project I will consider recreating a company from a select few of their successor chapters because the Fallen must Repent!

I had purchased the Assault on Black Reach starter kit when I initially began the hobby, mainly for the rulebook and templates while my fiance got the Ultramarine force and his younger brother got the Orks. His brother expanded the Orks to nearly 9,000 points and to this day are still fighting. The Ultramarines were just a practice force for our armies to fight in Patrol. My fiance converted their dreadnaught to BT. Now I decided to recreate the Ultramarines 6th Company using them as a starting point. The 6th is just a generic SM company which is something we lack of all the armies that hole up in our game room.

My IG is my baby. I started them shortly before giving up on CSM. They were the true army that I wanted to play and I love them in Apocalypse. If you ask any IG player if their army is complete, almost all of them will say that their army will never be complete. That is the beauty of IG, it's what you make them to be. I am in the process of repainting them in response to the new GW paint colors. Maybe I'll add a few more additions to the army while I'm at it.

As rightly so for any player who is proud of their work! Thank you for the invitation to the Dakka Gallery. Just thinking out loud here, perhaps the Gallery can inspire a new color scheme with those new GW paints...

Ugh, I am just about to sell my remaining GW paints- switching to Vallejo. If you're not commited yet, I'd recommend checking out the cheaper, and just as good, alternatives! (Vallejo or a new line coming out called Minitaire, for example)

I think I will stick with the GW paints. My first army used Testors because it was cheaper and oil based (reasoning that the paint job would last longer). After spray painting the Berzerkers with Candy Apple Red they looked more like bright and shiny model cars than warriors. When I finally dropped the Testors and tried GW paints it was a huge difference. I wish that I had used GW paints from the beginning. Now I have to soak each CSM model in a bowl of strong smelling Testors paint removal and put up with the resulting bleached white and pinkish tint.

I think one of the recipients of the Golden Daemon used a combination of Vallejo and GW paints on his models. Saw it on YouTube paint tutorials though the video is about two years old. He also advised having the model hang upside down while drying.

Yes, you definitely need acrylic paint but many Vallejo "Game color" bottles are identical to GW colors, and cheaper! Just FYI
