Ok so I think I got the format correct, and as this is my first time posting, just let me know. In any case, the idea behind this list is to be a competitive tourney list that's fun and not a power game steamroll list. As it's normally unknown opponents army types/makeup until you're paired up at the tourney I wanted to try for a list that could handle any eventuality.
I figured on the Duke for versatility in deciding which, if any, units would deep strike or not and for a nice supplement for the wyches drugs and for nice anti infantry.
I also assumed on the possibility of having a match with multiple objectives I would need several troops choices and opted for 2 wych units with 2 warrior units as support. Warriors for anti infantry, wyches for mop up in CC or for anti vehicle duty.
Ravagers with DL for anti armor
Blasterborn for mobile anti armor or anti infantry (3 SC hooray!)
I took flickerfields in an assumption that, should I go second and my opponent gets LoS 1st turn on my vehicles I would like a chance to save their paper thin hulls, even a slim one!)
Nightshields on Venoms and Ravagers to also try to help survivability.
I know it may seem like alot of anti infantry but my theory was that I want to deny scoring units ability to capture objectives/counter elite units (termi or MC) with buckets of dice. I figure if I do come across a list that's armor heavy the Ravagers could deal with it, as well as sending the Wyches their way. Plus the Raiders all have a DL each to help with that too.
Any comments/constructive criticism or add/subtract units would be much appreciated!! thx!

Thats pretty close to what I used to run in 5th.
Have you thought about dropping the duke, taking a cheap haemoculus, and adding a squad of 5 warriors in a venom? It should be fairly close in points.
I know cheap hq's really are not the best any more with the "slay the warlord" secondary but you could always just hide the haemoculus in a ruin if it comes down to it.

Hm. That would put another 24 SC shots on field, considering the warriors had x4 splinter rifle/x1 SC and the Venom had moved, and had x2 SC, so only shoot Assault 4 w/ SC from the warriors. It's definitely a possibility. Is it worth it to sacrifice the Low Orbit Raid ability and combat drug bonus for the Wyches in exchange for 5 more Warriors?

If you find your self deep striking your a good portion of your vehicles alot then no, losing it Low Orbit Raid isn't worth it.
With the changes in 6th, there really isn't a bad roll on the drug table anymore. I used to hate rolling 1's but now, with random charge distance, rolling/rerolling a 3rd dice is great.

I would drop the shuricannon trueborn from the blaster squads. These should be focusing on armor, leave the splinter cannon spam to the...rest of the army. Also drop flickerfields from the kabbie gunboats and ravagers. Jink gives you the same save, and you should always be moving. Night shields are worth it on the kabbie rides. Try to sneak in a small squad of reavers. They get a boost from the dukes drug re rolls, and are just all around good.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

FF are only good versus anti-cover weapons (and there are a lot these days) but that said; if they're pouring anti-cover weaponry into your boats a 5++ invuln isn't gonna keep it alive.
Also Serling - Splinter... SPLINTER!!! Shuri is another thread!

So far the effectiveness of 10 Wraithblades with Ghost Axes:
Tanked 2 Leman Russ squadrons (including the battle cannons and the triple plasma variant); whilst also getting wailed on by everything imaginable in a Fortress of Redemption. Only to get into CC with the tanks and open them up.
2000 points worth of Necrons with Forgeworld additions. Got into CC with a court of Lords and opened them up.
Killed a GUO.
Killed Angrath the Gargantuan Bloodthirster in an Apoc game (with the help of Iranna the Spirit Seer).
Ate a Hammerhead, pathfinders and scored after 3 turns of walking towards a 2000 point Tau gunline and overwatch!
And counting............ |

Like I said, I was assuming the DL on the Raiders and using the Ravagers as dedicated AA gunboats I figured would be enough. However that being said I started playing SW end of 2nd Edition and only recently started playing DE (end of 5th). As I am one of 2 DE players at my local store there isn't anyone to really ask about this stuff. Space Marines are soo much different in tactics etc. I've played a few games already, but not with this list. I'm am most definitely open to suggestions here so please, fire away!
Would it be better to drop FF on everything and the SC on the blasterborn, keep the nightshields on the Ravagers and use the extra pts on maybe...a unit of Scourges? Maybe with HL?

Ok so had my first match against Necrons and although I didn't do terribly I didn't win. I had him down to 2 Ghost Arks one with 1 HP left. He had a ton of vehicles though, and I did feel like I lacked in AT. So, that being said I remade the list with some Constructive Criticism from some people at the FLGS and here's what I came up with as a (hopefully) better take on a competitive DE list.
(x3) Ravager w/nightshields = 345pts
(x3) Kabal Warriors x10 w/x1 SC and x1 blaster, all mounted in Raider w/splinter racks = 185pts
Lady Malys = 130pts
w/ x8 Incubi and Klaivex w/demiklaives = 211pts
both Malys/Incubi mounted in Raider = 60pts
(x2) Trueborn x5 w/x4 blasters mounted in Venom w/extra SC and nightshields = 195pts
Reavers x6 w/x2 HL = 156pts
TOTAL = 1847PTS
Comments? Criticism? Pointers? oh, and serling, your advice to keep the nightshields on the Ravagers but drop the FF was spot on. They kept them alive much longer because of that! This new list has yet to see action but my Necron friend has already agreed to a rematch!

The main problem with your new list is that malys can't ride with the bloodbitches when they are ten strong. Good thing is, they get special weapons in multiples of three, so dropping a girl will fit malys in.
Even with hydra gauntlets, this unit is sub par charging in. Malys would be better off leading incubi or better CC troops. You will lose a couple of these to overwatch. Consider running them as normal wytches, other than losing the special weapons and extra attack they are the same but scoring.
The arena champ is not a must until you hit nine reavers and only then for leadership purposes(the bikes should avoid combat like the plague). It is better to take multiple smaller squads of 3 or 6 than 1 squad of nine unless you are running an eldar farseer.

Duly noted. List changed in above post to show no arena champ, and Incubi retinue with the Lady. That should now help make this unit a bit stronger yes? If needed/better I could always just split the Reavers into two 3 man groups to increase survivability. At least thats just a thought anyways.
