Powerful Chaos Warrior

Ok so I am trying to build me a BSB for my Warriors of Chaos army. I typically run a MoN/MoT or MoN/MoK themed army with either a Hero of Nurgle or just a Hero Chaos and sometimes will throw a MoK on my Hero. I haven't gotten to a list big enough to run a Lord yet as our gaming group is still small in regards to WFB(huge 40K following here). I am kind of looking to use a chariot or another mounted char. for my BSB. What is the opinion of Dakka on this matter? Has anyone else used chariots or mounted chars. as their BSB? I am just wondering if this is a good choice or not?

Never had a BSB on a charriot or mounted as those units mostly manage to put in enough damage.
Anyway, as for a BsB depends what lore you go for magic.
If nurgle,
Take a Tzeentch BsB thus you could make him both godlike survivable and killy.
Third eye of tzeentch
Talisman of preservation
MoT
Shield
Scaly skin.
(random magic weapon of your choise)
And A BSB ofcourse.
On all this
You got 3+ ward save with rerollable's of one
1+ armor save
And as said Magic banner weapon etc is fully up to your choise but that's one way to make him survivalbe with MOT
As for Mark of nurgle
Scaly skin
Glittering armor
MoN
Shield
Bsb (random magic if you want)
Random weapon
This way you got both good armor not as good invul
But your oponnent has a -2 to hit you!

Sadly the BSB cannot take any magic items.
I've considered running my bsb on a warshrine, and that will extend his range to 18" (I believe).

Says nothing about this on the BsB page 107 only thing is that he can't be your General.

Incorrect on both accounts. The BSB can either take a magic standard or regular magic items. If you just make your BSB and don't give him a magic standard, you can kit him as normal.
Hold Your Ground! doesn't ever extend to 18" for Large Target like Inspiring Presence does, and the warshrine isn't a Large Target anyway.
I don't know about doing a chariot, but I do know there's a nifty trick if you take him mounted. If he has MoN, give him Glittering Scales, a shield, and Scaled Skin on a steed. That gives him a 1+ armor with -2 to be hit. With your remaining points you could give him the Dawnstone to let him re-roll that 1+ (no point in taking Talisman of Protection since he'll have parry save anyway).

Dark Eldar could potentially enslave the galaxy.
Necrons could potentially destroy everything.
Chaos could potentially slaughter everyone.
Tyranids could potentially eat everyone.
Tau could potentially raise prices on import good from the Eastern Fringe. |

Ok ...question if you give him the MoN doesn't your BS have to match his mark? I'm just curious I get the new book this week ...Finally! Thanks for the thoughts, I was just trying to think of a way to maybe give my BSB a different look than most BSB models I have seen, but I do like the idea of running him with a mount and the Nurgle buffs seem to be quite sweet!

His... BS? I'm not sure what you're abbreviating here. If you mean Battle Standard, no. You don't have to take a magic standard. In fact, you generally shouldn't, as it means you can't give them magic items to keep them alive. The BSB is very important to your army, and you don't want him dying. Even if you wanted a magic standard, you're allowed any of the ones in the BRB as well, not just the two in our book.
If you give him a mark, the unit he joins has to have either the same mark or no mark at all. Unfortunately, MoN knights aren't the best in the world (you usually want MoT, because they're going to have an enormous target on their head). I usually take my BSB on foot in my warriors, but the mounted one is an option.

Yes I meant Battle Standard by BS, sorry. And Ok very cool that you don't need to match the Battle Standard with the Mark you place on your hero. I almost always run my Knights with MoT just for that blasted standard(if they still have it in the new book). As far as the BSB goes you all have been very helpful with this as it has given me great ideas and I may still build a chariot and give it the option of running it with my BSB just to see how it plays out.

Well if the Banner says it can only be purchased by models/units with a specific Mark that will limit what the BSB can get. So no Blasted Standard if he's not MoT.
