I go to college in hayward and I go to Ronin Games & Hobbies frequently (located in Castro Valley), but in case I have spare time is there anywhere else that people go that is less than a 30 min drive from Hayward?

Google tells me that the Game Kastle (on Coleman Avenue in Santa Clara) is exactly 30 minutes away from Hayward on 880. It is a very cool store and people frequently meet to play 40k there on Thursday night and throughout the day on Sunday.

There's plenty of stores in the Bay Area. There's also a Games Workshop in San Jose Oakridge mall and one in SF Stoneridge Mall. I haven't been to the one in Stoneridge Mall. I used to visit the one in Oakridge, but I've found there isn't a whole lot of competitive gamers there. They do however have quite a few painters, fantasy players, and those who prefer rule of cool or fluffy armies over optimal lists.
I highly recommend Game Kastle, Santa Clara. They have a good gaming community and very top notch players.

Endgame is in Oakland, by the convention center. It's an excellent store with a fantastic gaming area.
Gamescape-North is up in San Rafael (North Bay) which is considerably further, but still a great store with a vibrant gaming community.

It is also very accessible via public transit - both bus and BART, if that is an issue for you as it is for me.

Endgame is very nice. The GW in Pleasanton should be avoided at all costs (very small store and the employees are...well, GW). There's also a Game Kastle in Fremont where we play 40K on Fridays.

Another option is if you make the trek down to the South Bay is Legends Comics and Games in Vallco Mall (Wolfe & 280) They run 1500 point tournaments on Sundays starting at noon most weekends, so wouldn’t have to fight the weekday highway rush.

Gamescape just had a 1850 point WH40K tourney this weekend. Both stores are very good and the weekend traffic really isn't that bad.

We will be hosting a meet up/Battlefleet Gothic teaching session for the Warhammer 40,000 campaign this Sunday at 2 pm, and again next Thursday at 7 pm at Game Kastle in Santa Clara.
Anyone is welcome to join in, whether or not you're interested in joining the campaign.

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to let the list know that I will be closing participation for new active players for our integrated 40k/BFG campaign on Friday, 4/5. After that date, I'll only be taking people on a replacement basis. If you think you might be interested in our integrated 40k/BFG event, send me an email.
It's looking like we'll have at least 12 players and 4 separate teams.
Additionally, whether or not you're interested in the campaign, I will be teaching BFG on Thursday, 4/4 7:00 pm at Game Kastle in Santa Clara. If you've ever wanted to learn BFG, or you'd just like to play it, come on by. We'll be doing a simple cruiser clash.
