First of all, you have to edit this post and get rid of all stats, point values, and specific rules to avoid breaking forum rules.

HQ
- Your Shas'o weapons don't really synergize together. Keep the missile pods, but drop the CIB and AFB for Plasma Rifles. Also, if I were you, I would actually downgrade these guys to Shas'el, drop all the extra toys, and pick up a Target Array. All you really want from these guys is the BS5 ... any other stats aren't going to help with shooting

ELITE
- Burst Cannons belong on stealth suits, not XV8s, drop it for another twin-Fusion or Fusion/Flamer.

TROOPS
- Fine, but a little squishy. If you have the points/models lying around, throw in a Kroot squad for screening or max out your Firewarrior teams and stick a gun drone on the Shas'ui to make the total unit 13 (meaning opponent needs to kill 4 models instead of 3 to force a morale check)

HEAVY
- Fine.

Thanks for the heads up on dakka rules and cheers for the advise but never been a fan of plasma rifles in your opinion why chose them?

You may want to wait to make lists for the new tau codex which hits stores in 2 weeks

Because, unlike 5th ed, Cover Saves now suck, and AP2 makes muhreens poop their power armored pants.

There's a lot of mathhammer out there that make the XV8's PR the best anti-I gun you can get. For 4th Ed and 6th, the PR/MP FireKinfe config is king.

I second the above advice: Demote Os to 'Els, add Target Array. Go two guns, hwMT and *maybe* Shield Drones.

Definitely add SDs to the b-sides as they'll take the first hits and need the ablative wounds. Go with a 3rd troop choice.

Because you can have Plasma that doesnt Get Hot, and can be very mobile so able to quickly get into Rapid Fire range. The Fireknife loadout is the best loadout, though possibly tied with Deathrain, but they both have different functions.

Mainly what the others have said. In the Tau armoury you have Plasma Rifles that are AP 2 ... and that's about it. Railguns and Fusion Blasters are better aimed at vehicles, which leaves Plasma Rifles to be dedicated anti-meq, anti-terminator, and emergency anti-vehicle in a pinch.

Afro Tau won't be facing Marines, he'd be going up against my DE, so the plasma rifles aren't as threatening as, say, those missile pods or whatever they are that can shoot from behind cover.

What's made me sweat before is the bog standard firewarrior. A wall of these guys chucking out S5 shots at my raiders and venoms? No thanks...

And I'm not cheating by reading this thread. If anything I suspect it's a tactical decision on AT's part to try and throw me off - I reckon he's expecting me to build a list completely angled at the above, but it won't work! You hear me Afro Tau?! NEVAAAAAAAHHH!!
