My opponent (otherwise known as the great rulebook holder) swears I can only move 6".
and he decided to forget his at home. I don't remember how fast works

If the vehicle moves combat speed embarked models are fired (counting as having moved). If the vehicle moves Cruising speed they can only fire snap shots.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Open-topped has no effect on how embarked models are affected by vehicle movement. It governs access points and fire points.

Open-topped means that passengers are not limited by Fire Points, they are still affected by movement in the same way as any other embarked unit (as Happy already stated. Covered under Fire Points on page 78).
