I just read death from the skies. They list the Storm Raven as a Heavy Support choice for all codexes.

Does this override the Grey Knight Codex that says it is fast attack?

No, the Codex is more specific.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Death From The Skies specifically says these are the armies that can take it, and it is a heavy support choice.

Have you read the book?

The FAQ clarifies that it is still a FA option for Grey Knights.

That's fundamentally not true.

DFS was released as an update to the various codex rules regarding those units. Which, incidentally, is why they FAQ'd it (and not the codex) to state that, in this case, it is actually a FA choice. In other words, it was published in order to override the codexes.

Also, we can't just lay down a blanket statement that a codex overrides the BRB. You have to look at it on a case by case basis and determine which language is more specific to a given unit/situation and go with that. To be more clear, pg 7 "Where advanced rules apply to a specific model, they always override any contradicting basic rules." It does go on to say that if a conflict arise, meaning that both the codex and the brb cover the exact same situation, then the codex takes precedence.

Codex always overrides BRB (When there is a conflict).

"On rare occasions, a conflict will arise between a rule in this rulebook, and one printed in a codex.'Where this occurs, the rule printed in the codex always takes precedence." Page 7

The rule printed in the codex always takes precedence

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
