... I'm thinking it would basically be the baddest ass planet in the galaxy. Yes, I know everything on Catachan tries to kill you, the continents of Fenris constantly break apart, Cadia contains the entire Eye, etc., etc., etc. BUT the WHFB planet has suffered continuous daemonic incursion for thousands of years, including all the "fallout" (Winds of Magic, Warpstone, mutation) that goes along with that. Think about that -- you've got normal humans fighting daemons and the equivalent of CSM with what boils down to pointy sticks. Forget about conscripting them into IG regiments, the Empire's state troops would make good SM! And then there are the Knights of Bretonnia, who are pretty much already SM minus standing 9 feet tall or whatever SM are up to these days.

I think it can be a part of the 40k. Honestly the only reasons for me to not mentioning that it likely is a part of the thingy is that I don't want to taste the fist of a WHFB-fanatic.

This sounds cool, having WHFB themed guardsmen or Bretonnian themed C:SM bike armies would be awesome, and present some new fluff things for WHFB.

I can imagine why GW nixed this but I do really, really like the idea. If the Lady in the Lake turned out to be the Emperor ( ) then Bretonnians would pretty much be GK.

Wasn't that not related timeline? Maybe I'm remembering wrongly but I think they said the timelines ain't any longer matching.

This was all put forward as truth in Realm of Chaos, the warhammer world was indeed located in the eye of terror.
Then they woke up from the party, realized what a terrible idea it was and put a bullet in it officially.

I'm not sure what you are asking but I believe GW declared that WHFB and 40k are two separate settings with only incidental overlaps (Chaos). MeanGreenStompa wrote:Then they woke up from the party, realized what a terrible idea it was and put a bullet in it officially.
It was an awesome idea -- but you're right in a night before rather than morning after sense. Anyway, all I'm saying is -- if that WHFB planet did exist in 40k, it would be the baddest of all badass planets.

i think it would take about 5 minutes for the IOM, if they found the planet, to declare Exterminatus and wipe it from the galaxy.

I don't. I think they'd leave well enough alone other than to start kidnapping people to turn into Space Marines and seeding a few Sabines to convince the locals that Sigmar and the Lady of the Lake are both aspects of the Emperor (or maybe Saint Dominica in the Lady's case).

It depends on who got there first. A SM Chapter would abduct likely candidates but leave otherwise well enough alone to preserve their training ground. Declaring Exterminatus would be the work of seconds, however, for certain flavors of Inquisitors in this case.

I really don't get this. I mean I just don't see it, My pony men most certainly know fear, and they have very distinctly human stat lines. Not to mention that Space Marines are a shooting army and the whole idea of that is repulsive to the knights.
Where are people making this connection?
- Strength, toughness and initiative 3 are not super human in the least, but that is what we get on our basic troops.
- No elite ranged options at all.
- We have slightly above average leadership, but we most certainly know fear, and have all the same mechanics for boosting leadership as everybody else (inspiring presence, bsb, etc)
- We don't have access to the most elite troops in the game. Sure Grail Knights are bad ass, but they don't really hold a candle to things like Mournfangs, Blood Knights, or even Chaos Knights who just simply have better stats and gear. As compared to Space Marines who have THSS terminators which are a match for literally everything.
Is it just because we have humans in Armour and our armies tend to be more focused on expensive elite troops, but then that completely ignores that if you look at most Bretonnian armies there are in fact more peasant models than knight models... In my 2K list I have 29 Knight Models (9 KotR, 9 KE, 6 QK, 3 PK, and 2 L/H), and 64 Peasants (35 M@A, 20 PB, 5 MY, and 4 Treb crew)

@Beaviz: WHFB and 40k currently have nothing to do with each other, timeline-wise or setting-wise, except they both have the concept of Chaos generally and the Four specifically. Automatically Appended Next Post: Bretonnians are knights, SM are knights in SPAAAACE! SM are shootier than Bretonnians because they are sci fi.

Yeah, and also that 40k WHFB once were in the same timeverse. I see no hindering that the WHFB-world shouldn't be in 40k, as the Old Ones also is a link between them.

The trouble is with product development. Linking them means that certain things, like the magic for example, have to work the same way in both settings. Sci Fi tropes and Fantasy tropes aren't really equivalent so the idea ends up having more potential to restrict than expand.

Agreed on UM but can't think of non-successors who do the Roman thing. Lots of them seem to do the knightly thing, however, which UM also do to some extent.

Maybe, but the origin of the core history is the same (the fall of the Old Ones, the rise of Chaos). Mind you you opened this bag of worms.
